Overall a very charming place, and I will stay there again if I need to stay in the Notting Hill Area. It was very relaxing and I enjoyed my stay. No stress. The bar takes care of you well at night and staff are so pleasant - I think that's the best staff experience I've had in London so far. The hotel is small and the rooms are smallish (unless you upgrade) - but that's London.
The hotel doesn't have a health/workout room, but offers a free multi-day pass to PureGym which is a short and nice walk away (be sure to get your own locker padlock or you have to buy one there). This worked out much better than the small workout rooms of even the bigger hotels.
There are lots and lots of dining options in the area (Portobello Road for instance). The hotel also has a nice kitchen but it's a bit modest and great for salads and healthy snacks but I found the breakfast a little bit lacking -- but no worries as there are tons of other options a 5-10 minute walk away.
The room furnishings were mostly very charming. I just was slightly bothered by the round corner table that didn't match up with the nicer appointments. The color scheme was muted and soft but somehow I think a sprinkle of bright color or objects here and there to spruce up might be a good thing. Lots of Penguin classics to read!
In summary, if you want a corporate, over-the-top hotel, go for that. But if you want a relaxing few days in one of the most down-to-earth village areas in London, stay here.

Standard room in lovely quiet area inside great looking building. Easy access to variety of transport and great for our short theatre/shopping break.
Hotel needs general TLC throughout however for the location and size of the room it cannot be beaten for equivalent price.
The room and communal areas could do with touching up and updating which would give the interior the same appeal as the exterior and surrounding area (prime example is wardrobe door was missing in room) however cannot complain for the price paid. Ideal for a quick overnight stop in Central London.
Didn't bother with very basic breakfast offered and reception staff were efficient enough but the room was clean and bed was comfy.
If you're looking for convenient stay in a room better than you'd expect for the cost then Blue Bells, Notting Hill cannot be beaten for price.

Made famous by the eponymous film, Notting Hill is an affluent cosmopolitan neighbourhood of large Victorian townhouses, high-class shopping and chic restaurants. Adjacent, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park are grittier but still hip. Portobello Road is famous for its weekend market and antiques shops. Late August sees the Notting Hill Carnival, the largest Caribbean festival and biggest street party in Europe.
