    The Strand Palace

372 The Strand, London - Map
    "best location in london"
i love the strand palace and have been staying there for years. however, sometimes, i've gotten a room that is really just too small for two people, and that's what happened this time: the double bed was crammed into a corner of the room, a corner so small that the bed could only be accessed from one side - that's a stretch and they really shouldn't offer rooms that size to two people that said, it's a great location, their renovation they did for the olympics is terrific and i can't wait to go back (i'll just make sure i don't settle for a room where the bed doesn't really fit)

    The George Hotel

19-21 George Street, Edinburgh - Map
    "Fine, but not amazing"
There's nothing very wrong with The George, but this definitely isn't a five star hotel. The rooms are fine, but nothing to write home about, likewise the service was ok but nothing special. I left feeling a bit ripped off, the hotel hadn't done much to justify it's hefty price tag. All that said, the breakfast was excellent.

    Fraser Suites Edinburgh

Fraser Suites Edinburgh, Edinburgh - Map
    "First trip to Scotland"
We used Fraser suites as a base for our first visit to Scotland. It is VERY conveniently located just off the Royal Mile: close enough to walk to almost everywhere we wanted to go in Edinburgh, yet off on quiet St. Giles St. and out of the fray. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the rooms very comfortable even though they are closer to the European standard in size. We did not use the cafe as there were so many other options within a short walk. We rented a car from Waverly station for an excursion to Skye and were pleased to find out that the stations is within walking distance to the hotel. Great for pick up snd drop off. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

    "Great hotel, good location, "
We had a great girlie weekend celebrating a special birthday. We had booked a standard room but we were given an executive double room that entitled us to access to the executive lounge between 6 and 8 pm where snacks were served. We could also help ourselves to anything in the bar, wine, beer or spirits. The view was fantastic, sitting sipping a drink made a brilliant start to the weekend. The room was spacious and clean. There was complimentary water and the usual tea and coffee. Our view (20 th) floor was over the tram station and we could see way into the distance. We had never been to Manchester but had some comprehensive information from the receptionist which enabled us to visit local areas of interest. We took advantage of the spa using the jacuzzi and wonderful swimming pool and steam room. Our visit coincided with the conservative conference which meant the hotel was busy, but we did not feel rushed in the restaurant and it did not feel crowded. We would highly recommend the deansgate Hilton and would love to return again in the not too distant future.
