Poole is located right by the A35 and well served by rail links. A bustling, seaside town, it boasts the second largest natural harbour in the world, which was also the launch-site of the first trans-Atlantic passenger flight undertaken by a seaplane. With the spectacular Jurassic Coast standing testament to the region's prehistoric past and superb countryside attracting visitors in their thousands, Poole is a fantastic destination at any time of year. There's plenty of hotels in Poole, ranging from boutique B&Bs and charming guesthouses to simple business stop-overs and impressive manor house hotels.
Poole Harbour is something of an attraction in itself and, in the summer months, you'll find it alive with windsurfers, kite-surfers and those who simply like messing about in boats. The majority of Poole hotels are within easy reach of the harbour; the Thistle Poole Hotel and the Hotel du Vin & Bistro Poole are both practically on its doorstep, offering superb views across the sparkling waters.
However, there are many more attractions to be found in the area, making it a superb place to visit for families and couples alike. Poole Park is a multi-award-winning fun park spread out over four aces and featuring all-weather play areas. The nearby Tivoli Theatre offers excellent entertainment, from music and comedy to family shows and movies. However, if you want to get to grips with the great outdoors, the Arne RSPB Nature Reserve is a serene and fascinating way to get out and about.
Despite being a comparatively small town, there are a good number of shopping opportunities in Poole. The Dolphin Shopping Centre is home to over 130 shops, ranging from independent stores and boutiques, to high-street chain shops and upmarket outlets. Poole Street Market is an ongoing fixture every Thursday and Saturday, giving you even more shopping opportunities. Booking a room in a hotel in Poole, such as the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Poole, puts these facilities right on your doorstep - and makes carrying your new purchases back to base that much easier!
Poole is a fantastic place to visit at any time of year and, with plenty of excellent accommodation available, one that will make for a memorable stay.
