"Central location, lovely staff, homely interior."
We were even given a honeymoon present, and cut-sandwiches for departure in the early hours. Hotel is in an area of large terraces, a lot of them being hotels and guest houses. The area is quiet, but centrally located. Tourist attractions, shops, and laundries are close by.

"Great Stay for Old Town"
A great location for seeing all of the sights in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Easy to walk to the Royal Mile & castle, and the National Gallery is only a few minutes away. Lots of shops, grocery stores and restaurants within a couple minutes as well. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was basic but more than what you get at many hostels. The kitchen is small but stocked with anything you would need for making your own meals there. The other guests tended to be very respectful, it did not have the "party" hostel atmosphere that you get when the majority of the guests are on their first Europe trip. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the bathroom/showers were never gross. I would definitely recommend staying here

"Central Hotel"
Very convenient location and very helpful /friendly staff. Magnificent dining room with views over towards the Castle. Unfortunately there had been a flood and workmen were painting and relaying carpets when we arrived but the work was all completed before we left except a lift was still not operating.

Clarendon Luxury Apartments

"Quiet and elegant"
The Clarendon Crescent is right on the edge of city center near the Dean Bridge and it only takes a few minutes by foot to Prince Street and the Castle. The rooms are very clean and stylish with high ceiling and large windows, which face a great view of the city and the ocean with island in the distance. The kitchen is equally nice with all the basics. Billy, the owner, put out instant coffee, cereal, and a bowl of apples for the guests. Since the building is next to a park in a residential neighborhood, it's always quiet, which makes a huge difference after a long day of touring. Since this facility is not like a B&B, there is a wonderful coffee shop, called The Caffeine Drip, located just on the other side of the Dean Bridge or five minutes walk from The Clarendon, that offers hot breakfast, such as whole wheat toasts, French toasts, eggs of any style, English bacon or sausage, among a few other choices. Vegan dishes are also available. Bus stops are also nearby, depending on where one wants to go. One can catch the #100 bus from the airport and get off on Prince Street and walk to The Clarendon and taxi is about £20 including tips. This is a great place and value if you book the trip as a package.

"Update of previous rating"
The Angels Share Hotel was lovely. The bed was lucerious and comfortable, the pillows were a it hard for my taste. The TV was clear. There was ample storage. The bathroom......OMG!!!...That tub was amazing! However, as I am an "older" lady, I could not use it myself because it is so deep I would never be able to get out of it. I will recommend it for my younger friends. I did have a small problem in that when I went down to the restaurant for breakfast, there was never any one there. I accidentally found out I was going to the wrong place. When I told the staffer he immediately apologized and said he would be sure the sign was out the next morning, it was. The good part is that they made it right and did not charge me for the excellent breakfast I had. I will definitely recommend Angels Share.

"Quiet, quirky"
Absolutely the most quiet rooms, beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds. Bathroom floors are heated. The staff are friendly. Most are not Scottish...some do not speak English as well as one would expect of a hotel of this quality. The major problem with this hotel is that you enter the lobby at ground level and have to take an elevator to the third level. After a long walk, you come to a lovely fire pit and bar, but then you have to walk down either one or two levels to your room. There is no elevator access to this part of the hotel and bags must be carried by the bellhop. Don't forget something in your room as it can be a VERY long walk back. There is an elevator, but it has been broken for 6 weeks, which, again, is unacceptable for a property of this stature. I was told that my expectations were out of line because this was a boutique hotel. Two terrific concierges. Both that I used were knowledgeable and helpful as were desk staff when the concierge was busy helping someone else. Hotel is in a great location, very near the Royal Mile, good restaurants, and the theatre.

"The George, Edinburgh, Scotland"
Centrally located hotel, charming, quirky and elegant. Thistles on all the tables in the lobby, warm and welcoming atmosphere, easy and walkable from Waverley train station. In the midst of the Georgian architecture of Edinburgh, a little gem of a hotel. Guest rooms tiny, but efficiently built. Ours had a window seat looking out over rooftops and toward the bay.
