Hotel was located right in the heart of Chicago. Walking distance to good food, shopping and clubs. However, be careful when picking smoking room on expedia as the website cannot ensure you a smoking room. I paid more for a smoking room and did not get one as they were all taken.
I initially reserved a standard room with a queen-size bed. When we arrived, I felt like the room was a little bit smaller than expected. I requested for an upgrade and at first was going to be satisfied with a no-charge upgrade to a room with double beds. When asked whether two beds or a microwave/fridge were more important to me, of course I stupidly responded the double beds were more importasnt just due to the fact that I didn't want to be sold on an upgraded room that would cost me more than what I already had purchased. The lady who helped me(so sorry I didn't catch the name, I really wish I did!) had such amazing customer service. Once realizing I was an Expedia VIP, she immediately switched my room to a suite with a king bed free of charge, which truly surprised me since my dumb response of course was to get a room with double beds. She ended up giving me an amazing room which I enjoyed much more and defiinitely felt like she knew what she was doing when dealing with customers. I thank her so much because of her, I was truly able to enjoy my stay. I hope she knows I ended up writing a review as well because I never write reviews! She really made my stay the best!
The room was clean, smelled great. I did notice the sheets I was initially given had holes in them. I let the staff know, and they got me a new set immediately. The TV quality wasn't great, more than a few of the cable channels came in really grainy/distorted, and the lack of an HDMI input on the TV meant no Xbox (I work in the videogame industry and travel with my console constantly). But, with downtown Chicago LITERALLY steps from the door, I found myself going out every night. The 52Eighty lounge was pretty cool too. A bit pricey for hotel cocktails, especially considering the myriad of bars right around the corner, but it wasn't bad, and the view was good. In room wifi works well enough, but can be a bit slow at times. The staff was fantastic, always friendly and polite. The location was perfect, and the value compared to other hotels was fantastic.
Very comfortable hotel with extremely friendly staff. Great location, good amenities, lovely restaurant downstairs. Bar deserves its own mention as the Cocktail Director up there is a genius, we enjoyed it immensely. Nice having two solid nightlife choices right there in your hotel!
Received VIP+ free early check-in, free room upgrade from king bedroom to suite, two complimentary drink tickets (given that drinks are $15-$18 at the bar that's substantial!).
Magnificent Mile, a part of Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River to Oak Street, appeals to tourists because of its flashy department stores and fancy restaurants. Several of the Windy City’s architectural wonders are here, including the John Hancock Center and the Old Chicago Water Tower. Just north of the Chicago River, River North is home to the city’s shopping, design, and gallery districts.
