"Pros: Really good communication from host. Decorated nicely. Log burner (extra charge if using hosts logs). Milk in fridge. 8 minutes drive to Beamish museum. 4 minutes drive to a really good play park and splash area, by the river. Comfy beds and bedding. The accommodation was really clean. Shower heats up quick, large shower head. Dog bowls and biscuit treats - nice extra. Cons: Oven was broken by previous guest (on request, host was really good at providing air fryers). "Check in was easy and number pad entry system works well. Having a drive for the car was very welcome. The property is a good size with a very nice living room, good kitchen and 3 bedrooms. It is very clean with nice furnishings, and there are nice touches such as slippers for upstairs and plenty of 'movement' lighting at night. The location is quiet (and seems friendly) but it is within a 4 minute walk of a bus stop (to Newcastle and Durham) and 10 minutes or so to a good Tesco and the town...

"Everything you could need with comfort thrown in. Quiet and relaxing, though we did find the front room very cold but it was January and below zero outside. Many thanks to the owners for providing assistance when we had car problems...it was much appreciated."

Finchale Abbey, first floor apartment within an historic 11th Century Farmhouse.

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (9)
"Family went from being worried about being 5 minutes out of town to fully enjoying listening to the river and watching the ducks. Out of the five places we stayed over a two weeks holiday, this is by far everyone's favorite. The floors are a little uneven and the mobile network connection not perfect but everything else you could imagine about the place was amazing."
