We arrived to be checked in promptly, and given complimentary biscuits. The room was clean and tidy. Drinks were served in a timely manner and food was good. There could be more variation on the menu, we stay every year whenever flying from Newcastle airport and the menu has always been the same. Beds were comfortable with a nice bathroom area. Plenty of sockets available for electronic goods. Check out was easy during the early hours and staff are always friendly. Would recommend for convenience, cleanliness and overall ambience.

The positives are comfortable bed, excellent blackout curtains, great towels, very friendly staff, short walk to airport (if it isn’t raining). The negatives: Loose shower door that flooded bathroom floor - the great towels came in handy, an alarm clock that even turned off and unplugged went off at 3:00 AM and again at 3:15, very dark room - no lights at desk or dressing area, no USB ports, had one request - room not near elevator- it was one room away, We had an early flight and left at 6:30 after a very poor sleep. Not the best way to end our stay in Newcastle and begin our 12 hour trip home!

Room was too hot. Sink was cracked and wouldn’t drain properly. Shower door wouldn’t close properly. Bed was comfortable though and well supplied with water/ tea/ coffee etc. Great location near the airport and friendly staff but room was tired and needs updating.

The night at The Doubletree before our early next day flight, always starts our holiday off and this occasion was again a delight from arrival with warm welcoming staff with tasty cookies through to our evening meal and comfortable bed in a clean quiet room - perfect start!
