Excellence Riviera Cancun - Adults Only All Inclusive

"We had a great stay at this resort in Cancun. The property is beautiful, with a charming colonial-style design and a very relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of activities throughout the day, so there's always something to do. The food quality is good for an all-inclusive resort, with a nice variety of options. There are also plenty of bars throughout the property, and drinks are readily available. I highly recommend upgrading to the Excellence Club, as it gives you access to better premium drinks, additional amenities, and two exclusive restaurants that are definitely worth it. The only downside was the beach, which had a significant amount of seaweed during our stay. However, this appears to be seasonal and is not something the resort can fully control. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing all-inclusive experience in Cancun."

"Just got back from the El Cid Marina Beach. Pools were great. Room was clean. Staff helpful. Beware of the timeshare they try to sell. You will be stuck for 3 hours plus for a small promised gift. We loved our suite. Two separate rooms, one for my four teenage daughters and one for my husband and I. Three bathrooms and a huge kitchen table. Stove, microwave, etc. Great ocean view, however, every morning the trucks were out cleaning the sargassum. The smell was awful. The beach was unusable. It also didn't make sitting out on the balcony very enjoyable. The buffets were good. Just wish we could have gotten more restaurant reservations, and we tried getting these as soon as we checked in. The best restaurant to us was the Japanese. Excellent show and excellent food. If considering going to this chain in Puerto Morelos, I'd get the more upscale Ventus or Ventus Ha. Price is almost the same but more newer rooms. We did have a great family vacation. The only reason I may not return is how bad the sargassum looked and smelled."

"We bkd a Honeymoon Suite & anticipated a level of service/attention a similar accommodation would get on a cruise ship. Altho there was a butler and a large room, the level of service was not the same. This was almost definitely due to fact that we booked thru a 3d party, which was brought up time and again by the hotel staff & the salespeople trying to pitch a points program similar to time share. The suite itself was very dated and (literally) as far distant from the VIP Exclusive area of the resort (e.g. opposite end, near the kiddie pool!) as could be ... whilst renovated equivalent was clearly empty and available adjacent to Prestige Restaurant. We were told by butler on a daily basis that our restaur't choice was fully booked or only had very late hour availability... thus had NO Priority by virtue of paying for most expensive suite. Several of the restaurants were closed (presumably due to being off season), but not advertised as such & the beach was Totally Unfit For Use due to mountains of seaweed that was not being removed - simply left to rot (and stink) in large/deep piles. Thus, requiring a drive to a nearby town to access a clean beach. Room Service Disappointing: I ordered breakfast one AM & it came like UPBER delivers, in brown bag and plastic boxes +plastic fork! Staff, overall, very polite & tried to be helpful; food at buffet, generally okay to good, nothing special; Facilities, including pools, overall well maintained/clean & common areas updated."
