First impression...the resort is dirty and needs a complete overhaul. The reception area included dirty rugs, stagnant water that smelled and worn out chairs. The swim up pool in our room had tiles that were chipped and missing which mandated the use of pool shoes the entire time to prevent cuts on our feet. The shower in the room would occasionally develop what seemed to be an odor from wastewater gases. The fob lock on our door was missing the face cover and the refrigerator in the room did not work. They attempted to fix it but it still did not cool. Our biggest complaint is that the air conditioner for the rooms went out for TWO days at the end of our stay. It was miserable. The last night we sprayed ourselves down with Off and left the patio door open as long as we could to keep cool. We were eaten alive by mosquitos but we were somewhat cooler. We were told a contractor hit a line but only after we inquired. No one was forthcoming with information. But the casino, gift shop and staff offices were not affected. Seems a little fishy. Also, we were not offered compensation for the incredible inconvenience on a very expensive vacation. So disappointing!
The plus side was the dining and service staff was very pleasant, and helpful. Not enough to compensate for the resort conditions though. We will not be returning to Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun EVER!
