all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The night security staff didn't speak a lot of English but they were very helpful. We arrived after 9 pm so the office was closed. The night security person showed us to our room, explained how to lock the doors and took our luggage to the room. All with minimal English. Most of the rooms have a view of the ocean. As others have said there are boats tied up in front of the hotel but in the morning they went out and we were able to swim directly in front of the hotel. There was some seaweed during our week there but it was removed everyday. As someone who has lived on the ocean the seaweed there didn't smell as much as some I've experienced. Oceans have seaweed. We loved the location of the hotel. It is very quiet and just a block from 5th Avenue and in a very walkable area. The rooms were sound proof and well designed. and the view from our balcony was amazing. We are looking forward to our next trip there.

Loved the property! There is beach with lounge chairs, but boats are on it, so don't really count on swimming. Not a big downer as there are plenty of beaches further down. Internet is complicated, we could not get it in our room, that was the only problem for us. If you decide to go for breakfast, pass on the Continental one, but there is a bakery, Carlotta's around the corner that has great croissant and cinnamon rolls.

Quiet! Close enough to walk to everything but away from all the noise of the night life and foot traffic. I would choose this place again. Perfect for a couples getaway.

Lovely property. Quiet but yet close 3 blocks from the fun hussle and bustle of Ave 5. We had a unit w a side ocean view. First unit has a bit of a musty smell; second unit was perfect. Very nicely laid out; units in back of property would have limited views. Grounds and pool are beautiful. Staff was outstanding. No breakfast room but you can arrange to have breakfasts brought to your unit which was really nice. Would definitely visit again!

The room was nice enough. However, Spiral, narrow staircases, unsafe!! Many amenities listed in fact were not available. Read through and email property to ensure what you want/need is truly available. “In room coffee”-it’s not, it’s espresso cups and charged for it after first day. Pool-yes but unable to sit around it and very cold, really more for looks, it’s a court yard pool. No hot tub. Private Beach very small, other guests wake early and hold a chair all day and often not used for much of it. Not enough for all guests AND when we did get one the cushions are so flat and worn out not comfortable or relaxing at all.

Nice hotel, but no parking. You have to pay parking from10 AM to 10 PM . You can only pay 6 hours at a time. All the venders in the area will not trade bills for coins, the meters only take coins. I have stayed here many times, nice area but find a hotel that has there own parking. Chasing parking meters is not a fun vacation.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The water burned my daughter, it is impossible to keep it at a constant temperature. The maintenance guy came only when we were checking out and said yes there is something wrong but the manager wouldn’t discount our stay. We couldn’t shower in the room. Bad service and very rude manager

On the beach. Great staff and room. 2 burners cook top microwave fridge toaster blender. All dishes pan knife glasses etc. bring small kurag cups for coffee. Can buy at grocery store about 4 -5 blocks west. Pool great. Beach nice but better swimming few yards down. Great ac and bed. Quiet area very walkable

What I found unique about the ocean front was the harboring of the fishing boats. Every morning before dawn it was enjoyable watching the fishermen take their clients out fishing. Reminds me of a time when life was simple.

One step to the ocean, hammocks in the private balconies and the best staff ever made this hotel 5-stars for me. Some minor wear signs are not counted at all! Our family had very pleasant experience.

Oceanfront location is very good. Negatives, the office mishandled my reservation made weeks in advance, causing a room change after the first night. Neither Expresso machine worked, just a regular coffee maker in the rooms would have been great. Both rooms had minor floods, the first from the malfunctioning expresso machine, the second from rain the final night. No maid service after requesting in the second room. I cleaned the dishes.

Due to beach erosion, the beach isn't very big. The beach area, with lounge chairs, is still very inviting. There are bigger beaches very close to the hotel and you can walk the beach from the hotel to the bigger beaches. The property is within walking distance to restaurants on the beach, other restaurants on nearby streets, and 5th Ave with with shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, taxis, etc. The staff is extremely helpful, kind and willing to book your trips to nearby activities.

Playa Palms is a small hotel right on the water. It is located on a small, quiet street, yet close to the noisy/lively 5th Ave. It is a lovely place with its white balconies and patios. A narrow pool invites to cool down. Beach chairs await every day. The water is not great for swimming because of anchored fishing boats right there but a large public beach is very close. The staff was super friendly. Our room was spacious, very clean, nicely outfitted, with a nice bath and patio. We enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it.

The staff was excellent in all areas of service. Clean/nice rooms were a good sanctuary of our stay with nice small deck areas. Very quite area which can be hard to find in Playa. Small beach area with limited lounge chairs and not an ideal swimming area were the only slight negatives.

A little gem in the middle of the city! Quiet and clean. Only 24 or so units. All with a view of the central courtyard. Next time would stay on the ground floor in a pool view room as the beach seating is limited and no chairs around the pool. Delicious breakfast delivered to our patio each morning for $10/person with lots of options to choose from. Be on 5th Ave in an easy 3 minute walk, just 2 blocks off Constitutional Ave. but away from the hustle and bustle. And 1.5 blocks from 2 public beach accesses. Great for a two night stay like we did, or a month long adventure! We found an oasis in Playa del Carmen.
