BBGE sits on hundreds of acres yet there’s no nature walks. They have 5 dock/pier type structures but you’re not allowed on any of them to look at the water. They don’t do much for the sargassum and the smell from it makes your room balcony unusable. They advertise a 2019 renovation yet the rooms and quality of construction in the rooms is very poor. They paid for nice granite and tile then hired inexperienced toddlers to install it. Literally every single door handle encountered was a shoddy repair job. Our balcony didn’t stay locked and our room door had signs of prior breakin. Restaurant and public bathroom doors were also often without a knob. They make a big production of covid protocol at the buffet by handing out gloves but they pack so many people in to the buffets there’s no social distancing, and no AC or fans, while the ala carte restaurants and other buffets that are usually open for breakfast and/or lunch are currently closed. So they’re forcing people together at the fewer restaurants options. Ala carte dinners were fine but the restaurants were practically empty inside while people begged for reservations out of fear of the overcrowded buffet. The black and white bar bartenders never have water in the coffee machine so it’s “not working” and their blender is also “not working” and they don’t like to be disturbed from watching their tv shows. Buffet food was repetitive but at least there was guacamole and pico frequently, sometimes with chips.

My family just came back from the trip and I am very excited to share our experience. It was our third time at The Blue Bay and every time we go there we discover something new. At first, I got very disappointed for some changes, like there is no more cappuccinos or espresso at the whole resort. Less choice of food too, which I didn’t care because this way is better for my body (less calories maybe :)). Beach was not blue as before due to pier construction. Then I realized that food and coffee changes were definitely due to pandemic economical situation. People don’t travel as much and Canadian border is closed. Blue Bay keep its prices low but is cutting on some food. And yet, our vocation was so much fun that we would go back there in a heartbeat! Animation team was very uplifting. They are so enthusiastic, fun and friendly. We were busy all the time! Beautiful music was everywhere and it was hard not to dance whether you at the restaurant, beach or pool. Especial thanks to Lalu - a yoga guru, a ping pong master and a Latino dance teacher and much much more... Its an honor for Blue Bay to have such a character! There were many different fun challenges for the price: bingo, soccer, baseball, archery, ruffling. And I can proudly say we did it all! I don’t remember the name of the gentleman who was in charge but he was great! My teenage son and I loved to play volleyball on the beach. We had a really good time enjoying ourselves and laughing because animation guys

Loved our swim up pool but could of been warmer! Did not like kids club swimming in the room next to ours. food could of been better. drinks were great though. Maid helped us get out of our room because snake was in our doorway. but just pushed it away and never told anyone. i was a wreck all week worried it was going to come under the doorway. which i am sure it went into one of the other rooms.

Some of the morning staff are more interested in selling the property than attending to guests. I went with a family of four, my wife and 2 kids. Concierge was always busy. Golf cart rides to lobby and back to rooms always busy. There needs to be more options on the morning and lunch menus. The al cart dinners were ok but there should also be a menu for kids. Overall it was ok. I would not recommend this place unless you like poor to ok service.

Dont understand how they say they can be a 5 star ive seen better beaches and tennis courts at 2.5 stars in Cuba. French and Seafood and Mexican a la cartes are great though!

This is my second time at this hotel, facilities are damaged because of the hurricanes , so one of the main restaurants is closed, I stayed 5 days and every morning is the same buffet, so that’s boring , it is very hard to ride a golf cart, activities at the swimming pool are good, shows at night are great. Beach is clean.

Pros: the Pool is big and clean. Food is tasty. La alberca está grande y limpia. La comida es buena. Cons: los cuartos están lejos de la alberca y restaurantes. Nuestro cuarto encontramos 2 cucarachas. Según es todo incluido pero si quieres pedir más bebidas oh alimentos al cuarto es un cargo extra. La gente de despierta alas 6AM para apartar camastros (que ni usan). Unos trabajadores te dicen fosa información. Me gusto ver que la comida del buffet no se desperdicia y los empleados pueden comer. Lo malo es que según cierra el buffet alas 11AM y alas 5PM pero media hora antes ya están recogiendo comida y los empleados empiezan a a servirse comida y no te dan chanza de servirse comida. Oh si quieres pedir algo más ellos ya dejan de atender antes de cerrar el buffet. Las bebidas son pésimas. De tantos pedidos no las preparan bien y ni lavan bien los vasos. No recomiendo este lugar. Cons: rooms are far away from pool and restaurant. We found 2 roaches in our room. You pay all inclusive and they want to charge you if you ask for drink refills or food in your room. By 6am all the chairs around the Pool are reserved with towels but you never see them being used. I liked to see that food is not wasted and they allow employees to eat from the buffetS however they say the hours end at 11AM and 5PM but every day 30-40 minutes before you seen food being put away and all the restaurant staff is serving their plates getting in your way and you stuck with nothing.

The rooms were outdated and not everything was functioning. The ceiling fan could only be adjusted with a screwdriver. Had maintenance come look at the air conditioning twice, to no avail. It only worked sporadically and leaked oil onto the floor which was very slippery! Another couple in our party had a nonfunctional air conditioner too. Our tv only got 4 sports channels while others had a wide variety of channels. The beach is in the process of being reclaimed because of hurricane damage and it is more like being on a beach at a lake than on the ocean.

I stayed a weekend at this resort and had a wonderful time. The room was clean and neat, AC worked perfect the room was nice and cool. The staff was all very pleasant. The beach was nice and the pool was on the colder side. The resort is big and they have golf carts to drive you from one point to another if walking is an issue. I would definitely stay here again.

The strength point of the BB Grand Esmeralda is the personnel, friendly, ready to assist you and accommodate your needs always. The services offered is a lot and all were well managed. The only things that we not enjoy was the beaches, the sea in this area wasn't clean due to sediments.

Overall everything was just OK. The room was nothing special, the pools were nice, but no swim up bar. Bar service was pretty quick, drinks were OK. The beach wasn’t great, big but the ocean wasn’t nice right in front of the resort. The food was good, nothing was especially amazing. My favorite part was the swing bar. My least favorite was that everyone would get up early to save a bunch of pool/beach lounge chairs that they barely used so none were available even at 9am. Also making a reservation for some of the restaurants was a pain. The favorite restaurants would fill up before 10am. Who wants to get up early on vacation? We also ran into a rather unhelpful concierge when trying to confirm our transfer back to the airport. She directed us the the Expedia rep who was not present, and another rep (with an orange company, I’m sorry I don’t remember the name - but thank you to him) was able to help us. Overall I thought it was a nice vacation because it was cheap and I went in with low expectations, but I’d try something else next time.

Rude and miss leading lobby staff. Same food every day. Horrible food at the specialty restaurants. Needs better shuttle service that goes to all hotels not just a few. If you don’t buy into their property service ($60,000 usd) you’re treated like low class. Do not stay here!!!!!

the Restaurants were very good and the rooms were nice. I found there could have been more music and fun. There was music but generally was for the very young crowd. Although I liked this, if I was to go back I would likely try a different resort

The location is a good place. The beach is really nice. The pool is nice too, though very crowded with a lot of people there clearly to take a little too much advantage of the free alcohol. The food was super bland at all the restaurants on site, except the steak house. We found the food was either under cooked or over cooked at the resort. They seem to be geared more to pumping out quantity rather than quality. They have a group of “concierge” called circle one. When we first arrived they talked to us about doing a tour around the resort. We thought this was just showing us where everything is. One hour it we found out they were a “speciality travel” company trying to get us to buy into their company to have access to VIP perks. When we declined, they got really aggressive. It took us almost an hour to get them to leave is alone. Avoid the circle one people if you are not interested in being hounded for money.

The best part of the resort is the staff. Some of the rooms have been updated, but there are a lot that have not. Both pools have also been updated. Great food at all restaurants.

lue Bay Grand Esmeralda. The reservation was for 2 connecting rooms with doubles in both rooms. One room had a king, so 2 of us had to share a bed. The ice machines and an elevator were out in our building as were many water features. The “spa” was a hotel room I was taken to with massages tables in it. Not “luxury” in the least. Alcohol clearly watered down. Beach leaves a lot to be desired. Having to wait until you get there to make reservations in the restaurants (other than the buffet) is aggravating, especially when you are there for a short period of time. The buffet is adequate. The Staff was fantastic! Best part of the property.

The likes of the property was like pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Too many dislikes...ocean view room isn’t ocean view, music it rained for two days so we were on the top floor where water was dripping through ceiling while on toilet. Housekeeping forgot soap and towels 2 days none. We had move rooms. played way too loud for hours on end, dredging at the beach so at beach smelled, hard to walk in sand and water dirty. It’s an eco facility yet a gas power washer was used in the beach everyday to clean chairs and a tractor was in the beach not sure what it was doing. It went and down so I guess to make sand flat.

The food at the a la carte restaurants, but above all, the staff are wonderful.
