Staff very helpful on arriving, no parking at hotel but a 5 minute walk and £4 a day parking in nearby street. Food in hotel was excellent, maybe 20 min stroll to old town.my only gripe is the room wasn't suitable for our needs (3 adults I child). My wife and I and our 19 year old son and our 13 year old daughter our room had 1 king size and sofa bed, not suitable for our two kids, again staff very helpful and moved us to a double/double which is biggest they have. Still not suitable really,I was under the impression room was a double/twin.but overall a nice hotel
We stayed during the Edinburgh Festival which meant that the hotel rates were probably inflated. Checkin was prompt and smooth. The 'Executive Room' had everything one would expect of a middle range hotel. Well equipped bathroom; good, free Wifi; comfortable beds, even if the pillows were a bit hard. This hotel seems to have been constructed our of a number of separate buildings on several levels. About the only complaint I would have is the sole lift (elevator), which is small and slow. Our room was on the first floor, but was reached by a set of stairs from the lift. The hotel structure, in fact, means that navigating it inevitably involves stairs.
Breakfast buffet was of a high standard, with good fresh offerings. The hot dishes on offer needed to be ordered but were delivered quickly and were high quality.
I would happily stay there again but, hopefully, at a more reasonable charge.

Lydie and John went out of their way to help us with unexpected complications before we arrived. We appreciated the friendly and enthusiastic Jenny and Tania who looked after us so well. The room was delightful and the breakfast was fantastic. I would recommend the Albyn to everyone!
Super friendly staff, excellent breakfast! We had to leave before breakfast on our last day, so they packed us a great lunch! Very comfy bed. Shower was a finicky electric thing unlike anything I have ever seen, and I needed help to get it working properly. Would stay there again.
Located to the northwest of The Meadows public park and close to the instantly recognizable fortress of Edinburgh Castle, Tollcross is a busy road junction that gives its name to the surrounding area. Visitors can explore the Abbey and Palace of Holyroodhouse and other historical attractions in the nearby Old Town, or venture 100 meters south for a spot of golf at Bruntsfield Links.
