Good sized comfortable room. Could get quite warm but air con helped. Would be nice to be able to open a window for fresh air, but not possible.
A decent gym for a hotel. Was quiet so didn’t need to book when I wanted to use it. Didn’t use pool.
Good base for exploring Edinburgh. About 5 minute walk from the bottom of Royal Mile and 20 mins or so from the Castle.
The base of Arthur’s Seat also 5 mins away.
Major disappointment was breakfast. Had to book a time, which can be difficult if busy, so book early...! Especially if you have plans, as service was slow, at least a 30 min wait if ordering hot food, even a bacon roll...!
Could help yourself to a continental breakfast which was limited and poor quality for a supposed hotel of this quality. Packaged croissants and choc au pains. Better quality from Lidl for 49p each.
The cooked breakfast was ok, but not much of it and coffee weak and lukewarm.
Didn’t bother on our second morning and had breakfast in town.
I know you don’t go on a break for breakfast, however, when paying for it you want a decent breakfast, which this wasn’t.
I understand Covid restrictions, but there didn’t seem to be a problem when eating at Hard Rock Cafe or the Gurkha Cafe.
Seemed to be short staffed.
