Staying at San Gallo Palace is like visiting family. We just returned from from a week's stay (our 5th or 6th) at San Gallo Palace. The staff are like old friends, always thoughtful and polite. Georgia, Jetmir, Linda, Luca, Paola at the front desk and George and Lilly at the bar (we miss Ezzat) are a pleasure to know and could not be more helpful. They help us with recommendations, reservations, transportation, whatever. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to town, a little further out than some of the others, but the rates are very reasonable and we're so comfortable at the San Gallo, we just keep going back. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Free breakfast and WIFI. Overall, hotel is an excellent value with a wonderful staff. We're already looking forward to our next trip back.
"Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Florence"
The hotel is wonderfully appointed and the staff is very helpful and professional. The lobby, bar, and spa areas are decorated beautifully and smell divine. The rooms are modern and have all the amenities of a large hotel. The hotel is also within walking distance of the Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery. I would stay here again. Definitely the highlight of my trip to Italy (as it relates to hotel accommodations).
We stayed in room 16 which is on the third floor with a nice balcony view of Florence. This room had a twin bed setup with an additional single bed for a third person. The twin bed was fairly hard to sleep on. The hotel office is located on the second floor, which was a little confusing at first. Luckily they do have an elevator. Overall the Panorama is a near little hotel five to ten minutes walking from many of Florence attractions. If you arrive by train, the best bet is to take the number 1 bus to the San Marco plaza and walk from there. Dragging luggage on the sidewalk is a big drag.

Hotel Rapallo is #19 of 422 hotels in Florence. The room is comfortable, basic amenities are included (soap, shower caps, hair dryer, and shampoo). Bring your own lotion, qtips, and cotton pads.First night includes two complimentary bottles of water. When showering or flushing the toilet, the room starts smelling of bleach. The breakfast buffet is average, exceptional service from the beautiful woman in charge of serving guests coffee and tea (the filipino substitute is gracious as well). The spread includes hard-boiled eggs, assorted cured meats, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs.
The one thing I found odd was that the hotel main entrance door is always locked. Even on daylight. This frightened me a bit of the neighborhood. However, there is always an attendant who will buzz you in when you ring the bell by the entrance
We asked for a taxi to the airport and was overcharged by €5. Taxi fares in Florence are fixed price of €20 +€1 per suitcase. We paid €22 from airport to hotel and €27 going back to airport.
There is also a city tax that has to be paid by cash or credit card around €8/night.
Loved this place. While everything is up one flight of stairs, they carry everything up for you. Great personal. Very helpful and even told us of a great restaurant to go to! Would not stay anywhere else on my next stay in Florence.

"Absolutely perfect location for heart of Florence"
This is in the perfect spot for Florence. A few blocks to the Cathedral and Duomo, about 10 minute walk to the train station and yet not quite the noisy location of some hotels as it was tucked away. A block from Central Market and so vendors do come by to set up early in the morning, but our room was in the back and quiet. Staff was all wonderful especially the women at the front desk. Breakfast was the same everyday but quite good and the woman in charge of the area was quite efficient and friendly, willing to serve many different styles of coffees.
Most importantly for us, the room and in fact the whole facility, was spotless. Showers were hot and powerful, beds very comfortable. Adorable terrace with view of the Duomo on 2nd floor for grabbing a quick meal at the market. Stores in front of the hotel sell wine and other drinks.
Airport is about 15-20 minutes away, so able to grab the shuttle for E6 which leaves you at the train station and then walk to the hotel.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Everyday we said how lucky we were to be in this spot.
Very friendly informative staff, who provided map and details of easiest routes to all the sites.
Good location, amazing views of cathedral etc., from room. Clean, tidy hotel with good buffet breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
The Orto de Medici Hotel provided a charming room overlooking their courtyard garden. The fountain and the birdsong were very romantic. The breakfast buffet (an assortment of bread, cheese, sliced meats, fruits, yogurt, cereal) was generous and the coffee hot and frothy. The hotel was quiet and well-situated, not too close to the tourist sites but very convenient for walking and shopping. The staff was always helpful and generous with their time. We booked a ten-day stay at the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to friends and would love to visit again for an even longer stay. Wonderful memories of beautiful Florence!
The hotel was easy to find, the staff was very helpful, and the continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise! Our room could use fresh wallpaper, and the bathroom and shower was a very tight squeeze, but the location was great.
The centerpiece of this Florence neighborhood is the Basilica di San Lorenzo, one of the largest churches in the city. Located near the city's main market, the most celebrated aspect of this structure may be the Cappelle Medicee. Also notable is the Laurentian Library, which was conceived and built by Michelangelo.
