"A BIRTHDAY TREAT"
Danesfield House has style. The architecture and grounds have an air of timeless elegance and the Hudson Suite, overlooking the gardens, is quite simply beautiful. This sense of style is enhanced by the skill of the staff. They manage to be both accommodating and discreet at the same time. I wish we had discovered individual names because the lady who welcomed us gave exactly the right impression for the establishment, the man who helped with our cases was superbly efficient and the maitre d at breakfast had a marvellous touch of correct authority. Attention to detail is paramount. Highlights of our stay were a picnic in the grounds at an inspirational spot overlooking the Thames and our visit to the quite excellently-appointed spa. Danesfield House is an experience.

"Lovely hotel in the Oxfordshire countryside"
Stayed for one night as a mini-break while passing through Oxford. Our room was spacious with a balcony which overlooked Waddesdon village. The four poster bed was extremely comfortable, and the walk in shower was fantastic. We ate in the hotel restaurant, where the service was impeccable. The fish was freshly caught, and the wine list was extensive, featuring a selection of the Rothschild wines. The full English breakfast and coffee were great in the morning, and we enjoyed a walk around the grounds of Waddesdon Manor.

"Character Hotel which could do with some polish..."
Room 6 nice and spacious - precarious entry and exit - OK for us - could have been very challenging for some. Small step out of toilet - dangerous - needs highlighting. WiFi only allows you to connect one device per email address - that needs to improved. Restaurant closed for private event - what comes first - commercialism or customer? - would have been prudent to have informed guests prior to arrival. Booked taxi on arrival for the evening - doubled checked booking at 6pm - no taxi ever arrived despite assurances, and it was on my insistence that a different taxi company was called who arrived in 5 minutes and ensured our evening was not ruined. Breakfast was OK, debris beneath the table, no cruets on the table, butter in dish had previously been used. I would have pointed all of this out on checkout - but as we were not asked if we had enjoyed my stay - I assumed no one cared!

"Beautiful and comfortable "
Very comfortable bed, accommodating staff, high quality throughout, delicious food at Berry's. Despite the large edifice, the interior has only a small lounge and restaurant to enjoy - again very pleasant but I would have liked to explore the hotel and grounds further.

"Great hotel. Don't eat the food!"
We felt really lucky to find the crown. The family room was a great size for two adults and two children. Room was simple but nicely done. Very clean. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was ok, but our evening meal was appalling. Every last bite.

"Lovely dog friendly country pub/hotel"
We were booking last minute so choice in the general area of High Wycombe for a dog friendly hotel was limited. This turned out to be a little gem!. The staff were really helpful, the room was very neat & well equipped with a comfortable bed & a first class bathroom. The restaurant provided good quality food, some nice beers and again very friendly service. It has a large safe car park, which for this visit was decorated for the Christmas season. Nearby are a number of places to visit, we went to Hughenden Manor which was also decked out for Christmas. All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend this establishment.

Pocket Guides: Independent Hotels in Buckinghamshire

If you prefer the homeliness and traditional charm of a boutique hotel rather than the slightly corporate anonymity of a chain, Buckinghamshire has a great selection of independent hotels for you to choose from. Since the construction of the railways in the Victorian period, this county has been popular with many London commuters, and is home to some of the most luxurious residential properties in the country.

Independent Buckinghamshire Hotels with Great Hospitality

One of the main advantages of choosing an independent hotel is that they offer a more intimate atmosphere where staff can be more attentive to each guest. Many independent hotels also have restaurants where you can indulge in delicious meals made using long-standing family recipes that you wouldn't find anywhere else!

Enjoy WiFi at Most Independent Hotels

Virtually all independent hotels in Buckinghamshire provide WiFi access so you can easily check your emails and train times, and stay in touch with family and friends on Skype. Often, this service will be available in all rooms and most public areas free of charge or for a small additional supplement.

Places to Visit Near Independent Hotels in Buckinghamshire

For some unforgettable views, spend some time at the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with an extensive network of well-marked cycling and walking trails. This glorious landscape is perhaps best visited around late April or early May, when you can see the ground beneath some of its woodlands transform into a flamboyant carpet of bluebells.

    Visit the Spellbinding Hellfire Caves

On the southern fringes of the Chilterns, close to West Wycombe, the Hellfire Caves is a fascinating network of man-made caverns that were built out of flint and chalk and are up to 400 metres deep. They were not discovered until the Georgian period and were allegedly created for mining before becoming an exclusive meeting point for the Hellfire Club, a group of high society friends, until the 1760s.

A number of independent hotels in Buckinghamshire offer flexible check-in and check-out times in case you intend to arrive or depart outside of the standard times. Many also have left luggage facilities so you can safely store your baggage and enjoy more sightseeing time.
