Wonderful room (the Vivien Leigh Room) with great views. Food was excellent. Staff very attentive & friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere. We were treated to a Falconry display at no extra charge. ''I'll Be Back''

Owner not aware we had bikes but happy to accommodate them ( however has limited space so said can't always manage this)
Member of staff who did breakfast was v friendly and helpful
Would have liked cereal and choice in what was in full English
I just needed an overnight stay while I was in Devon for a family event so I only arrived in the early evening and left after breakfast the following day - a fleeting visit but I intend to return later in the year for a longer break or holiday. The hotel is welcoming, cosy, has beautiful grounds and views and has a homely atmosphere without being imposing.
The room was nicely decorated, clean and was actually cosy. The Pub is a very traditional english pub and the staff was nice and friendly, the breakfast was delicious, good quality superb taste, the service was very personal, it was a good selection for being a small pub.
To find the right water pressure or balance temperature when having a shower may be a bit tricky though it could be the area. The hot drinks sachets weren't replaced everyday but you have the pub downstairs to go for drinks. There is a level of noise considering staying in a pub is accpetable once pub is closed and people goes is complete silence and quiet.

A fascinating contrast of wild empty landscapes, manicured beauty spots and picture-postcard villages, Dartmoor is one of southern England's last wildernesses, where ponies, sheep, and cattle graze freely. Most popular for day-trippers is the south east of the moor with wooded valleys and cascading streams. The central and northern parts feature wild open moorland with imposing rock outcrops ('tors'). The whole area is a walker's paradise.
