"My partner and I stayed here for an impromptu night over and wished we had stayed for longer now!
The staff were so friendly and the food was incredible, there was a real homely feel to the place and the grounds are stunning.
Easy parking too which is a plus. It’s only a 3 minute drive from a petrol station too.
We recommend:
- ordering the “ultimate burger”
- saving room after dinner for one of their ice cream sundaes
- ordering a local cider and sitting on the swing bench in the garden"
"There is a guest book at the Rock Inn which dates back to 1903 and it chronicles the experiences of the people who vacationed there. After reading through it one has to agree that it is a special place.
We had a lovely stay at the Rock Inn. Our room was cosy with a comfy bed. We booked our meals in because the food is superb and the service friendly and attentive. We look forward to going back."
"The food was lovely and the bar and restaurant were nice. Breakfasts were really nice and all staff were friendly and helpful.
The only drawback was the road noise at night."
"Absolutely beautiful property! We stayed for one night and enjoyed a lovely meal at the onsite restaurant, the extremely comfortable room and bed, and the generous breakfast cooked to order the following morning. I highly recommend this property."
"A beautiful hotel in a lovely setting with the sound of the river when you sat on the terrace. The staff were exceptional and always ready to help with any request. The room was very comfortable, lovely big bed and superb bathroom."
"Had a lovely stay for few days and good location to explore local area, especially Steam train with Staverton station walkable distance. Food really good and we were pleased with how well they catered for gluten intolerances. Really friendly staff."

"I love this little pub - second time I’ve stayed here while passing through. The owners and staff are lovely, the food is nice, the rooms are comfortable, and the area is stunningly gorgeous - I’ve been on some great walks along the Dart River and the other way onto Dartmoor. It’d be a great place to stay for a walking trip. "

"This property was all you could ask for in cleanliness and presentation. The host was friendly and helpful. The only downside for us was that in the details online stairs and steepness were not mentioned. The garden was beautiful but the two of us have mobility issues and we found that and the stairs to shower room difficult. So maybe update details to include a mention of this. Otherwise the place and hosts were wonderful."
"A perfect house for a family dartmoor trip. Very well laid out, cosy but not cramped, well set up, comfy, no sound but running water and occadional birds. "
