Booked a double room and a table at the Fishbone restaurant for six on the 17th. Contacted hotel on the 12th April to confirm booking and to request a vegan curry for one of the party, hotel reception said they would pass the request on to the restaurant and they would contact us. No contact from the Fishbone restaurant so rang on the 14th to request the vegan curry, staff member said the chef would be informed. When we sat down to eat we were told they had only just seen the note regarding the vegan curry and could not provide it, profuse apologies given.
At check-in we were told that due to essential maintenance the kitchen would be closing at 6pm on Easter Monday and therefore no food or room service after that time. If we had been told beforehand we would have changed our booking or the venue.
Easter Monday lunch. The soup of the day advertised as vegan on the menu was potato soup with added cream! No Margarita pizza as they had run out and the vegan burger was very dry. The menu had Caesar salad marked vegetarian but had bacon lardons as one of the ingredients, from a vegan pig no doubt!
Monday night, the essential kitchen maintenance was marked by men appearing beneath our window, over the kitchen area talking loudly, laughing and waking us at regular short intervals, a brief period of quiet before it started again at 5am, so a sleepless night for us!
This was our fourth stay at this hotel and proved to be a rather expensive disappointing stay. Will not return.
