The hotel was in an ideal location for access to the town and harbour area. The hotel was tired looking and could do with refurbishment both inside and out. Whilst the rooms were spacious the furnishings are mismatched and old. There appeared to be a shortage of staff in the bar area and room service was very poor. On several occassions we cancelled our order as it took too long -over an hour for two drinks. We ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room as due to Covid restrictions the restaurant was busy which is totally understandable. However, the food arrived cold and it was hit and miss if you got what you actually requested. Although the cover charge has been waived the charge is still £14.95 for a breakfast which is not a buffet breakfast. There are plenty of decent places to eat in Torquay and much better value for money than the hotel. Having said this all the staff were friendly and regular cleaning was taking place. Apart from having your temperature taken on arrival you are not required to wear face coverings. you need to book to use the inside pool for a 30 minute sessionbut if you are flexible then it is fine. However, you cannot use the pool after 6pm as it is reserved for members only. The outdoor pool operates on first come first served. If I visit Torquay again I would not stay at this hotel.
