The Anchor is a village pub with some rooms at the back. We were in "Lavers" which, I suspect, is the smallest room but perfectly fine for the two of us. The room itself was immaculate, clean with good quality fittings and views over open countryside. We only had a small shower room but again well appointed.
Breakfast is do-it-yourself with a toaster and kettle in the room but there was fresh orange, bottled water, butter and milk ( real milk, not UHT) in the fridge, and cereals, bread and a...

Easy location to find. We had the two bedroom apartment and it was clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast items provided and we had a lovely outlook onto a field with animals. Will stay again and recommend to our friends and family.

The host was very helpful sending a lot of information before the trip and greeting us with more information and history of the Priory.
Well equipped apartment including a pint of milk.
Lovely out of the city location but only a short journey to see the Clifton suspension bridge and also the convenient park and ride.

Lovely little hide away hotel with a sweet little courtyard with very pleasant out door dining. Very efficient staff in the restuarant, excellent service, excellent food. Whole experience was a pleasure.
Only issue was we had to pay for overnight parking, which run out at 9am in the morning.

We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail.
The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty.
Will definitely stay again in one of the other fantastic looking rooms.

‘ FOREVER YOUNG‘. We stayed so we could attend the Rod Stewart concert at Ashton Gate. ‘I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT’ but ‘ THERE WAS NEVER A DULL MOMENT’
The Priory was very comfortable and all instructions were plain ‘ SAILING ‘. THIS OLD HEART OF MINE’ wouldn’t mind living there! The Priory is a beautiful place, ‘EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY’

Loved the lay out of the hotel. Very quirky and so very different to your normal/regular hotel. Great bar and food! Good part of town. Will definitely stay again!
Only downside, no parking. But Cabot Circus car park just 5 mins walk. £17.80 for 24 hours. Costly, but safe place to park. Dont bother with JustPark app. It is cheaper, but will send you to dodgy neighbourhoods.

The best area to stay in Bristol is the Harbourside and the city centre, as they offer the most convenient access to attractions and a wide range of hotels.
Harbourside is the heart of Bristol's revitalised waterfront. It's a very walkable area centred around the Floating Harbour, where you'll find numerous restaurants, bars, and cultural institutions. Key landmarks include the M Shed Museum, Brunel's SS Great Britain, and the Bristol Aquarium, all easily accessible along the waterside paths. The area around Millennium Square and Anchor Road is particularly bustling.
For couples looking for a sophisticated and convenient stay, Harbourside is an excellent choice. You can enjoy strolls along the water, dine at a variety of establishments with harbour views, and easily access many of Bristol's top sights without needing to travel far. The atmosphere is generally relaxed and enjoyable.
The city centre, particularly around Broadmead and Cabot Circus, is ideal for travellers who prioritise shopping and direct access to transport links. This area is home to Bristol's main shopping districts, offering a mix of high street and independent retailers. It's also well-connected to Bristol Temple Meads train station and bus services, making it easy to explore further afield or arrive and depart with ease.
Business travellers will find the city centre particularly suitable due to its proximity to corporate offices, conference venues, and excellent transport connections.

When is the best time to go to Bristol?
The best time to go to Bristol is during the late spring and summer months, particularly from May to September, when the weather is generally mild and pleasant.
During these months, you'll find a wide range of outdoor activities and festivals taking place. For instance, the Bristol Harbour Festival in July brings the city's waterways to life with music, markets, and performances, which is a big draw for many. The warmer weather also makes exploring the city's many parks and outdoor attractions, such as Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Harbourside, much more enjoyable.
Families often find August particularly appealing due to the school holidays, allowing for more flexible travel. The longer daylight hours mean more time for sightseeing and enjoying attractions like Bristol Zoo Gardens or the We The Curious science centre. The city's many green spaces are also superb for picnics and leisurely strolls.
Couples looking for a romantic getaway might prefer May or June. The city is less crowded than in the peak of summer, and the milder temperatures are ideal for dining outdoors in areas like Clifton Village or exploring independent shops in the Old City.
