"Ideal stop for Clifton "
A mid class hotel with great reception staff and stylish restaurant. Restaurant prices on the high side for average food. Comfortable bed and great black out curtains. Bathroom pretty good but needed a little TLC. High quality smelliest and lots of super extras in the bedroom.

The Washington

"cozy hotel in a quiet part of town"
The Washington isnt about to be confused for the Waldorf Astoria, but its accessible and charming! Named after an American president who sported wooden teeth and forced the British out of the colonies, the Washington is quietly situated in Clifton behind a university building and is delightfully off the beaten path. Attractions within walking distance include the suspension bridge, and city center. How weird would it be to have a hotel called the Obama? am I the only one who thinks that sounds weird? anyway, the Washington is adjacent to a lovely upscale pub as well as a more casual underground bar, Bundy's. tea and biscuits are provided in the room in case somehow this lovely little hotel wasn't cozy enough on a rainy winters day. complete with a night porter and continental breakfast, youll want to make sure to avoid the yogurt if youre American...its crazy sour because our yogurt is basically candy i guess? Water pressure in the shower is appropriate and the abundance of radiators serves to boast what one can only assume is plenty of hot water. the television by American standards is actually quite small, but dont let that fool you, theres plenty of BBC to waste an entire day just drinking tea and eating biscuits and listening to the rain. Super duper cozy.

"Business Trip"
A very pleasant surprise as the food and staff were excellent: Location was exactly as required: Only disappointment was being thrown out of the dining room at breakfast due to some kind of previous booking - no notice given to any of the breakfast diners ! Notwithstanding this glitch, however, the hotel was certainly acceptable with some nice touches of class but overall décor needs improving with the times.
