"Great budget hotel"
For the price and the area, great amount of space. The front desk was super helpful. Also held our bags after we checked out for a few hours before our flight which was nice.

We got free upgrade to family room on that day. It was good but they don't have kettle but only cups. Overall is still good.

"Great location, good basic accomodations, value"
Great location very close to Shin-Okubo station on the JR Yamanote line which puts you within easy access of most sightseeing in the city. Very inexpensive with Expedia bundle and the room was comfortable for the most part. There was a convenient laundromat across the alley and free wifi. We didn't mind chilling on tatami mats. There are issues, however. First, as mentioned by others--the futons are very thin--I needed 3. Second, there is no privacy at all. We had a 3 person room for a family of 3 and the bathroom isn't even large enough to fit a garbage can--it's the kind of shower/toilet combo bathroom you'd see in an RV. You can't change in there after a shower or your clothes get wet and there isn't even a corner in the room you can stand behind. Third, there was a bit of a cleanliness issue-while it was clean for the most part there was some mildew along the wall under our window and the towels smelled like smoke (though they had been laundered so they were clean). Fourth, they were really adamant about putting your shoes in the lockers at the reception area. I don't mind taking my shoes off but I'd rather just carry them with me to my room and back. Having to get them out of locker makes even going to get coffee out of the vending machine in front of the place a hassle. It's like they don't trust you to take your shoes off in your room or something. Annoying. Overall we were pleased and would go back. If you can deal with the minor issues I'd recommend it.

"Really near to Shinjuku centre"
Brilliant location to discover Tokyo. Very good transportation. Night life is very busy around but the hotel area is quiet.

"Amazing Guest House "
Overall the place was clean and well taken care of. I stayed in a room which was only for me so I can't speak on the shared rooms but at least mine was clean I have zero complains with cleanliness with the showers as well. The staff is extremely helpful if your trying to find out directions, places to visit, eat etc. They actually also have Pocket Wifi available to rent which at least for me came in EXTREMELY handy. I believe the pocket wifi was 300-400 Yen a day which is probably less than 5 USD. They also have a common area which was cool you get to see a lot of people there sometimes sharing their experiences. Security wise I never had an issue but they do have cameras all over the place. The location is also extremely convinient. 10-15 min walk to Shinjuku Train station which will take you pretty much anywhere you need to go. There's a Korean neighborhood as well in that area with lots of different restaurants to try. A lot of bars and different clubs as well next to the area. No need for a taxi while your there. In case you do need one they can call someone for you as well if you don't speak the language. The staff actually made many calls for me to book trips for me while I was there. Overall defiantly a 9 out of 10. The only thing which will make it a 10 would be to have more rooms available in case your traveling with a larger party, but at the end of the day it is a Guest House not a hotel.

This was an excellent little stay. We felt so at home, and were welcomed by the staff and everyone that stayed here. Tough pillows, but we had a very deep and comfortable sleep!

Pocket Guide: Nakano Shinjuku 2 stars Hotels

This sprawling business, commercial, and entertainment center never lets up. It is a modern Japanese phenomenon with shopping arcades, flashing neon signs, stand-up noodle bars, and side-street video screens. Some two million people pass through the train station alone. Futuristic-looking City Hall offers a free observation deck with great city views.
