"We had a great stay at this hotel! The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient. Everything went smoothly, and we felt well taken care of throughout our stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again!"

"We had a great stay. I was concerned about the self check-in, but it was easy and went very smoothly. The room is small, but it is very nice and updated and clean. A good location as well, walking distance to Old Town if you’re up for a longer walk."

Just a short drive from Edinburgh's Royal Mile and historic castle, this East Lothian town offers easy access to coastal Portobello Beach. Visit the nearby Glenkinchie Distillery for whisky tours or catch thrilling horse races at Musselburgh Racecourse.
Great stay. We arrived a bit early and the room was ready. Close to a tram stop or about a 30 min walk to princes street. Plenty of shops, cafes and bars nearby.

Amazing host, fantastic breakfast, brilliant old leather chair in room 1. Gareth, the owner couldn't do enough for us. He even gave us a bottle of prosecco for our wedding anniversary (see photo). Highly recommended

Even before arrival Hilary couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. We were able to check in a little early without any difficulties. The building was beautiful and the lovely open fire with complementary wine in the lounge was so relaxing. We stayed in the regent room which was really cosy with a huge comfortable bed. Breakfast was really nice too. A little walk from the station and princess street. It was definitely worthy of all the other fantastic reviews. We will definitely be...

Good location for us. Parking avaiilable in Abercorn Avenue. Morrisons close by. Good access to buses into town. Good walks nearby. Friendly manager. Clean. We were at the back of the guesthouse. Couldn’t hear any traffic.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Dorstan. The B&B is an ideal location to explore Edinburgh being quiet & either a 20min walk or short bus ride to the city centre.
The owners were very helpful giving me a map to explore, offering suggestions of places to visit & answering any questions. Breakfast was also served promptly & with a smile.
My room was clean & tidy with fresh towels, bins emptied & tea/coffee replenished each day. Though I had a single room with no toilet or shower this was not...

I spent quite a while looking for the best combination of location, reviews, appearance, price and convenience and must confess to having been a little sceptical of the high scores I found at such a modest cost. But I found that they are totally justified. I received an upgrade on arrival and my hosts could not have been more helpful, giving me information about places worth visiting, local transport and options of where to eat etc.

Family room was big enough for 3 of us. There was a shower and small toilet and sink.
I have noticed that in the wardrobe they even had a cot (which we didn’t need). It’s very nice quirky room with small cupboards that our son absolutely loved.
Staff was absolutely brilliant. We arrived too early at 11am however our room was already ready and they gave us a key. No questions asked.
We lest our bags and went to museum of flight which is just few miles away.

A wonderful stay, the staff are really friendly and most helpful with directions. The city centre was only a few minutes walk and there is on street parking. The room was very warm and comfortable, lovely place, will recommend.

The property was well located in proximity to the centre. The parking was good right outside the property. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed.
On arrival I was greeted by the owner who was very approachable and helpful during my stay. Definitely visiting again.

The staff were excellent here. Very attentive and helpful, and the checkin and checkout were very quick and smooth.
The breakfast is basic, but good. If you prefer a proper hot meal, there are many restaurants and cafes in the area.
The room and hotel were clean, but without keeping the window open the room started to smell a bit musty, but not overly so.

Everything is perfect. From customer service to facilities. The moment you enter the house you know that the property was well kept. Would definitely book again if given the chance.

What is the nightly rate for a guest house in Tranent?
Rates for Tranent guest houses vary, but travelers can find great-value prices from £53 with Expedia. A range of factors can affect nightly rates, such as the location, the breakfast offering, and the range of amenities. Travelers looking for a good deal should consider looking for a midweek stay, as weekend rates at Tranent guest houses tend to be higher. Remember to also use our filters to sort prices from low to high.
What's the difference between a Tranent guest house and a B&B?
A guest house in Tranent is typically a larger establishment with more rooms, offering a more hotel-like experience, and may provide additional amenities including luxury bedding. In contrast, a B&B is usually a smaller property that focuses primarily on providing a room and breakfast. A B&B is often more personal, and breakfast is typically included as part of the stay, but other services might be more limited compared to a guest house.
