We stayed in a small twin room called 'nook and cranny' at the very top of this historic hotel with low ceilings and beams. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable with simple pine furniture. Fabulous views over the marshes and river, only marred by the unsightly lorry depot at the bottom of the hill when you looked seaward -but that's not the hotel's fault. The ensuite shower, although very small for a tall person was fine and spotless. If you're looking for 5 star luxury and the 'boutique hotel' hype then this might not be for you, but if you like old buildings, atmosphere and comfort then you will be very happy. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would indeed ask for this room again.

Stayed for one night at the George in Rye. Right in the centre of town and convenient for browsing the local shops. Stayed in Room 3 which was absolutely gorgeous. The general décor of the hotel is beautiful and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Had our evening meal there - quite pricey but enjoyable with good service. Breakfast (included in room price) was equally enjoyable but no sign of any toast! I'm sure if we'd asked it would have been provided though. Only downside was no hotel parking, however, you can pull up outside the hotel to drop off your bags and the car park we used at Rope Walk - a short walk away - only charges £1.50 for 24 hours. All in all, if you don't mind paying a little bit more for an overnight stay, this hotel is certainly to be recommended.

Hotel was lovely if a little tired, Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, But no disable parking and car park gravel very uneven and large pot holes.
Room very clean but bed mattress very soft we kept rolling into the middle.
Spa was lovely and the neck and back massage was excellent and good value
Breakfast was very good plenty of choice and good quality. Coffee plenty and good taste and strong
We did not eat there in evening as the local pub has a brilliant menu and cheaper
Drinks at the hotel a bit pricey but lovely lounge to sit and relax.
We did not manage to go into the gardens as the weather was very wet but as the spa was included in the price we spent a long while just relaxing in there, Not too busy so worth a visit
We are planning to go back in the new year to destress after Christmas
