Luxury Breaks on Maui Island
Maui Island’s excellent weather and stunning scenery make it a popular destination for well-heeled travellers looking for an upscale getaway. From award-winning golf courses to designer shopping, there’s plenty to do away from the beach, and many of the five-star resorts also host their own complimentary activities and evening entertainment.
Staying in Maui’s Luxury Hotels
Each five-star hotel and resort on Maui Island offers deluxe features to ensure you’re comfortable throughout your stay, from marble bathrooms and deep-soaking bath tubs to private lanais and courtyards with ocean views.
Beachfront restaurants serve Hawaiian delicacies, and bartenders mix up tiki cocktails in the hotel bars. Take a dip in the hotel’s outdoor infinity pool or workout in the modern fitness centre before unwinding in the deluxe hotel spa. Some of Maui’s luxury hotels and resorts also have tennis courts and their own golf courses.
Luxury Things to Do in Wailea
Maui Island’s upscale resort area, Wailea is known for its luxury hotels, premium golf courses and beautiful beaches. Stop by the Shops at Wailea to shop for designer fashion and enjoy its daily hula shows. For some of the best swimming and snorkelling on the island, head to the popular Wailea Beach.
Staying in West Maui
There are plenty more luxury hotels along the coast of West Maui. Stay in Kaanapali to be close to its beach, one of the best on the island for surfing. The area’s two golf courses have fantastic ocean views, so if you’re a golfer, teeing off here gives you an excellent chance of seeing humpbacks. For more gold, take the 15-minute drive up the coast to get to the Plantation Golf Course, famous for hosting the annual PGA Tour’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
Maui Island’s Best Surfing
To see professional surfers in action, head to Hookipa Beach in Paia. It’s also a world-famous windsurfing beach, and there are regularly major competitions out on its large waves. Beginners will find it easier to get to grips with the calmer conditions on the West Maui coast, especially after some lessons from the Kaanapali Surf Club.
