Parking on Maui Island
Many hotels and resorts offer free parking to guests. The majority of beaches have plentiful parking just steps from the sand, and if you’re exploring other resorts areas, leave your hire car in the central public parking lots.
Driving the Road to Hana
Road trips are popular on Maui Island, especially the route along the Hana Highway, known as the Road to Hana. The route leads down the island’s eastern coast, through some of the most remote coastal spots on Maui. Leave the car in one of the many car parks along the highway and hike off through the lush rainforest or discover secluded bays and beaches.
At the end of the drive, the small town of Hana is a fantastic example of traditional island life. There are many reminders of the missionaries who came to Hana, including the historic Wananalua Congregational Church. Just outside Hana, the Waianapanapa State Park is a scenic bay featuring lava stepping stones and mineral cave pools.
