This 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home on prestigious Capewood Drive has southwestern exposure and panoramic mountain views with unforgettable sunsets. The main level features a great room with wood beams, vaulted ceilings, and gas fireplace for cozy evenings together. The well-stocked kitchen makes it easy to cook for a group, and younger guests will find everything they need — including kid-friendly dinnerware and booster seats — to feel right at home.
The lakeside sunroom is a favorite gathering space day and night, while the large deck overlooking the firepit, sandbox, and dock offers some of the best views on the lake. Outdoor cooking includes a gas grill and Blackstone griddle with seating for shared meals.
After a full day on the water, retreat to the spacious primary suite with lake views, the queen guest bedroom with adjacent bathroom, or the triple bunk room perfect for kids.
The lower level features a wet bar, pool table, air hockey table, and games for rainy-day fun. A second primary bedroom with queen bed and twin bunks works well for families, and an additional bunk room gives teens their own space. A pack n’ play is also available for our youngest guests.

This property is amazing.
We loved everything about it. Especially the downstairs area for our teenagers!
The views are awesome and the dock area was pretty convenient.
We had 13 people staying there for multiple days to celebrate thanksgiving. The accommodations were absolutley perfect. There was enough space for the kids to have fun and the adults to relax. It was cold when we went but still enjoyed the firepit and the AMAZING sunsets over the lake. All in all 100% reccomend the stay!

The lake house was well stocked and comfortable with fabulous views! With 3 couples and two small children we had enough space to spread out. The owners need to make a few repairs to the property but all in all a nice place!
This house is situated in the perfect location for watching boat traffic, watching wildlife and watching the stars. Plenty of water toys and life vests made it a good fit for our multi age group. Beds are so comfortable and there are lots of chili out areas in the house. Our favorite was the sun porch.
The property was absolutely beautiful! It comfortably fit all 12 of us and we had a great time on the lake. Thanks again to Cait for making sure all was well and we were good to go!
Thank you for providing a lovely setting to spend quality time with our children and grandchildren. We ALL had a fun week at SML, especially the special cousin time for our youngest grandchildren. They all tried tubing for the first time as we rented a pontoon boat for a day and it was a highlight. Your home had just the right amount of space for us and was well equipped.
Residing in Virginia Beach we always thought we were ocean people, but apparently we are lake people too and will surely return.
We enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful. The one problem we had is that the bathtub does not work in the master bedroom. When you have small children that can be an issue with bathing. The deck house was well stocked with life vest, fishing rods and floating devices.
Beautiful place with lots of outdoor seating and spaces. We really appreciated the large number of kayaks and life jackets. I didn’t pay enough attention to listing and had to go shopping for linens and towels. Lesson learned.
The best thing about this home is the views! There is also Great Lake access with plenty for kids to do. I personally love how secluded the home was, it added a very relaxing woodsy vibe. The owner is extremely friendly and responds quickly to message (this is appreciated.) Only a few things I’d like to point out to other guest, there are no linens (it’s in the listing details but we missed it), there’s only one working tv in the upstairs living space (not a terrible bad thing, and the closet full grocery store is 30mins away. Overall it was a great stay. Will stay again.
We celebrated our 50th with family and this place is great. We stayed at several other places on the lake and this one has the best location and views of the Mountain.
The house was beautiful and the views from the deck and dock were amazing!
This was our first time staying in a house on Smith Mountain Lake and I'm so happy that we booked this house! Sipping coffee on the deck watching the sunrise and drinking cocktails on the dock watching the sunset was something we won't soon forget!
There were some issues with the property that were beyond the control of the owner. The owner was responsive and made a genuine effort to resolve the issue. It is a great property in a great location.

Happy Endings Review
The house was clean and furnished with two nice grills that were piped into a large propane tank. The outside back patio and porch are awesome. The inside of the house was clean but dark. The living and inside eating areas are cramped if the house is full. It rained during our trip, so the kids loved that there was a pool table, air hockey table and lots of games to play. Overall, we enjoyed our time there.
We had a great time! The location is great, the view can't be beat, it was clean, and came with lots of water toys! Also, there's a massive outdoor griddle. I know it sounds strange, but there's no more convenient way to cook a big breakfast for 10 people! As a few other reviews note, the house may technically sleep 13, but really it's up to 3 adult couples (in 3 bedrooms with queen/king beds) and lots of assorted kids (in various bunk rooms). A 4th adult couple would cause challenges to sleeping arrangements.
We've booked again for next year!

A week of fun for ALL ages!
Our family of 9 (ages 8-70) visited SML for a week in July and it was our best vacation ever! Countless hours were spent at the boat house enjoying all the "toys" --- kayak, canoe, tubes, trampoline, paddle board, fishing -- and there's even a bahamian ring toss! Plenty to keep everyone happy. The fire pit area is great, with plenty of chairs. For the competitive ones --- the pool table and basketball game keep everyone engaged (I recommend bringing your own pool stick if you have one). We rented a pontoon boat for tubing which was a huge hit with the 5 kids. And, the lake is SO clean --- very enticing for the swimmers. I would highly recommend a visit to SML and this home is great for all ages.
We have been coming to the lake for 14 years now, and this house had one of the most amazing views! When we are looking for a lake house at SML we are looking for a house with views, a great boat dock, and good sleeping arrangements. This house delivered and there was sooooo much more. It was clean, the beds were comfortable for everyone, the views were on point, we had a boat and it was easy to dock, the kitchen was well labeled and well stocked with dishes and anything else you would need when it comes to having to cook (just bring the food), the Blackstone on the deck was an extra bonus (my husband loves cooking on his Blackstone at home) for breakfast and dinners, they had so much for our 14 and 17 year old to do (paddle boards, canoe, and pedal boat). I highly recommend this house! It was a relaxing retreat that we look forward to every year! Thank you!!!!
