"A lovely old country house with delightful and spacious gardens. Breakfasts were superb and the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The host and his staff were at all times friendly and attentive. We'd happily stay again."
"Lovely place, beautiful food and a really nice room and ambience. But what really made this place was the wonderful warm staff.
The lady on arrival was really welcoming, the girl looking after us for food was very attentive and the gentleman who welcomed us at breakfast was delightful.
Would highly recommend and will be back in future, thankyou so much!"
"Couldn’t ask for any more, location was central, staff were friendly, accommodation was clean and included items for breakfast which was a nice surprise. Pub was amazing, we ate there both nights of our stay. 10/10 would stay again."
"Great check in, parking great, staff very accommodating, evening meal very pleasant eaten in restaurant part of pub.
Room very comfy, breakfast was really good quality with nice coffee.
Would recommend and stay again."
"A fantastic hotel in a great location. Easy to find with ample car parking at the rear. Warm welcome at reception and friendly efficient service. Room was immaculate and very well maintained. Great night’s sleep, quiet location and comfortable bed. Breakfast was fab, staff friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend and would happily stay there again. Thank you to all the staff at the Mayfield for a very comfortable stay."
"Really lovely place. Would’ve been handy to know we had to check in at the hotel next door 😁 we knocked and walked in on the neighboring property to try and find out where we were supposed to be. "

"Obviously anywhere that makes their own sour dough bread, is the place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Pascale. Lovely welcome, great room, quiet and plenty of space. Good shower. Breakfast - apart from the Kelloggs offering- yuk…_is freshly made and a good selection. The location of Cawthorne House is brilliant, easy to walk into the centre. Nice walk to Thornton-le-Dale. Also has a car park round the back, so handy."
"Were ever I travel in Britain if there is a best western that is the hotel I stay at ,so far I have never been let down by a clean good size room, friendly staff and excellent breakfast."
"I absolutely loved this place. I think Tom and Nina must have lived in it before letting it out, because there were many thoughtful touches that wouldn't necessarily occur to owners just setting up a rental property de novo. I'm only sorry not to have met them, because I was left with the feeling that they must be very warm and welcoming people. My only (very minor) plaint was that the back garden looks a bit neglected."
Foxtail Glamping Pod - sleeps 2 | Gold Award winning
10/10 Excellent
"The pods have everything you need it’s clean modern, outside is kept neat and tidy, so relaxing, would definitely recommend and would come back again"
"Well what a really pleasant place, surpassed all expectations. We stayed in The Horseshoe Suite and it was perfect for a short stay. Our only problem would have been the bath size - small, but the shower was more than adequate. The bed was very large and very comfortable with exceptionally white bed linen, every where was very clean and tidy. The restaurant was superb, great food, lovely surroundings with good prices and finally each and every member of staff were genuinely nice, polite, attentive and knowledgeable people. Thank you - we will be back.

Lovely 3 Bedroom Cottage w/Garden, Thornton. Family&Bike Friendly. Parking Space
10/10 Excellent
"Could not fault it, the cottage, the owners, the location were all amazing (local pub food only slight let down, but through no one’s fault). Highly recommend the cottage"
"This is a tricky one to score, so I'll elaborate here.
The property is lovely, more spacious than we expected and comfortably furnished. Combi boiler so hot water is plentiful. Great shower!
The location is absolutely perfect, centre of Pickering and on the A-road but not much street noise can be heard inside.
Cleanliness was generally good, although when checking we had everything on departure we found someone else's socks under the bed!
But...
Kitchen set up was rather sparse for a self catering holiday, including an oven shelf that is wider than the oven!
Toilet was iffy, I grew up with chain-pull cisterns but none as temperamental as this. Sometimes one pull was fine, sometimes it needed several to flush, a couple of times we had to give up!
What really let it down was the management of the property. Several things in the house manual need updating, such as details of the thermostat. The wifi did not work the whole of our stay. I reached out to the property manager by phone and by text message but responses were slow or non-existent and in the end I gave up. This did cause us some difficulties during our holiday and was disappointing for sure.
On balance, I would stay here again but I'd be checking reviews first to see if these issues have improved."
"Our stay was lovely: the manageress, bar staff and waitresses were all welcoming. They provided information about the local area and showed interest when we returned after our days out.
We stayed three nights in a very comfortable room, with a good selection at breakfast. We ate in one evening which very tasty.
We would definitely stay here again."
