At first glance this place looks great, ocean views and modern facilities, but once you get here, you realize you’ve been tricked. Beach: Looking to swim in the ocean water? Sorry, this resort isn’t for you. The water is covered in seaweed and is filthy brown. The pictures are extremely misleading. Pool: Want a nice pool since you can’t swim in the ocean? Sorry, this resort isn’t for you. The pool looks beautiful and has potential, but the way they have it set up completely messes up the experience. Most of the pool is blocked off for pool activities so the general public can’t access it. The area you get to swim in goes no deeper than 1-2 feet and is filled with people because it’s a small section. The activities are reservation only and it’s impossible to get one. Food: Want good food and access to the restaurants? Sorry, this resort isn’t for you. It is literally impossible to get a reservation at the restaurants. I was here for 5 days and could not get a reservation at any point. You are forced to eat at the buffet, and in most resorts, this would be a minor trade off, but here it isn’t. The buffet is lacking variety and quality. And you are stuck waiting on line for 20-45 minutes just to eat there at all times. Relaxation: Want to relax on vacation and enjoy the nice weather in peace? Sorry, this resort isn’t for you. Loudest place alive and you will get a headache. One of the most basic expectations in any hotel is having essential amenities readily available, and unfortunately, that standard was not met. Our room did not have any bath towels upon arrival. We called the front desk four separate times and were repeatedly assured that towels would be sent up promptly—but they never arrived. We even went down to the front desk twice in person to follow up, only to be given the same empty promise each time. We waited for hours, hoping the issue would be resolved so we could shower before our early morning flight, but no action was ever taken. This lack of follow-through was incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. When we brought this up again at checkout around 3:00 AM, the front desk staff responded in a very dismissive and unapologetic manner, simply checking us out without acknowledging or addressing our concern. This experience made us feel completely ignored and taken for granted as guests. Immediate action on customer requests—especially something as basic as towels—is essential in hospitality. Unfortunately, this hotel failed in a fundamental way. We were there end of March, lots of young people but lots of families too. Ice cream is very good. Restaurant reservations are hard to get. Expect to wait for things like drinks, etc. Sunrise resort is bigger and more crowded than Nizuc. Nizuc is quieter and smaller. There is a decent size pool at Sunrise resort for kids with a few slides. The playroom is the standout attraction. Very clean, lots to do. Also there is an arcade in the lobby area which is pretty amazing. Overall good if you like a bigger resort. Like many places, food is hit and miss. Some good, some bad. Very difficult to get beach chairs. Everyone comes out at 7am to reserve them and so if youre late good luck. Beach is very dirty with seaweed. But not big waves which is nice."
