"I loved this hotel being central for town, bus station, boat trips and market. Very helpful friendly staff and ideal for solo female, safe door lock. Buffet breakfast included and adequate with fresh fruit and pastries. Front room does overlook small bar table area but not overly noisy and no music. Cathedral close by and main tourist attractions/museum. Bus to airport 9 at end of road which is promenade walking area and sea. Great short stay. Steps to access."

"We highly recommend this hotel. It was in a very good location to get to the Mercado and the cable car, as well as any place in Funchal. We don’t recommend having a car in Funchal. It’s definitely a walking town. Special thanks to the receptionist. She makes the hotel a higher rating. She was very helpful with recommendations and overall being so dedicated to us having a terrific stay. We would stay here again, unfortunately it was already booked "

"Convenient location"

"Overpriced but fabulous location for one night. Think travelodge before renovations. I was a female solo traveller and it suited my plans and felt safe. Staff lovely, easy check in/out and easy to park at the hotel or opposite. Nice little touristy town. My room was clean but missing a net curtain and as it was ground floor I couldn’t open the curtains as people walked past. If I was there more than one night I would have asked to move. Slow WiFi, but it worked, no tv signal. Dust fell off the...

"I recently stayed three nights at Pier House, and loved it. The location was excellent, just a block from the center and the waterfront. The room was pleasant and spacious. The concierge, Andre, could not have been more friendly or helpful in providing airport transfer, car rental, and advice. He helped me squeeze the most out of my too-short time in Madeira. Thank you Andre!"

"The hotel was incredibly good value. We loved our stay and no ask was too much of the extremely friendly staff, we were provided with packed breakfasts when out early for trips and helped us to get car hire easily too. The only thing which could improve would be the breakfast service. Food was good for the price but the way in which you have to queue up and point to what you would like is strange and seems unnecessary and can be difficult if there are language barriers. Otherwise we loved it and...

"I was only here overnight as near airport and arrived on late flight but it was fine apart from finding front door as I had to access a keysafe to get in ."
