The St. Georges was everything I wanted for the mid-range price I booked for. I spent eight days using the hotel as my base of operations while I did sightseeing in London and Paris. I had a great frontal view of the city and easy access to restaurants and transportation. Overall the condition of my hotel room was very clean, with fresh sets of towels and toiletries every morning (Along with morning edition of The Times). I had a nicely stocked Minibar, adequate closet space and good WiFi. The lighting could be better and was quite dim at times. Fortunately the weather was very cooperative this time around and my room was flooded with plenty of sunshine. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful when I needed transportation advice. The St. Georges runs along Regent Street with plenty of restaurants, pubs and shopping. It is a few blocks away from Oxford Circus (ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL) a main transportation hub. It's another ten minute walk to Piccadilly Circus the heart of London's theater district. I will recommend to friends who need that central London location at an affordable price.
"Good Hotel Convenient Location Staff Very Helpful"
Stayed for one night as we were only visiting London for the weekend. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel after we checked so it was easy to collect them and travel on to Paddington station for our train back home.
One point that may be useful to other travellers is that on the underground map Great Portland St and Regents Park underground stations appear to be some distance apart. In reality they are only 3 - 4 minutes walk apart and if travelling from Oxford Circus or Piccadilly Circus it is much easier to travel directly on the Bakerloo line to Regent's Park station and then walk back to the hotel from there rather than changing underground trains to get to Great Portland Street
One night romantic stay for the two of us.
Great room, bed, shower & bathroom, etc all excellent (ring & ask housekeeping for kettle + coffee)
ask for a room near the top.. we sadly had a room on the first floor (directly above the booming sound system)
My wife and I and our 1 year old stayed for a night in a large 2 bed suite, which was comfortable, clean and in a great location, especially for shopping. The Astor is not a modern, bland hotel but it has a lot of character, it does feel a bit worn in places but I think the hotel offers good value for money and I'd recommend it for a short break. One thing they do need to repair is the lift, which wasn't working when we arrived with our bags and pushchair on a rainy afternoon. Besides that, the breakfast was ok and we enjoyed our stay.
Boutique hotel just off Oxford Street in Central London. Close to tube stops, walk to the West End for theater. Small hotel, sleek and elegant design, extremely comfortable beds with faux fur throws, huge shower with rain shower head and hand shower. Room service was extremely reasonable - eggs, toast, bacon, and coffee were less than 15 pounds.

You can't get a better balance of location, charm, service and comfort Ln London than the Charlotte. Close to the theatres but in a quite area of SOHO where the locals hang at their favorite pub and the shops are unique. Lots of very good restaurants close by too.
The Charlotte has all of the attributes of other Firmdale hotels; very comfortable beds, great décor, superb staff, a great breakfast and cozy nooks to rest, visit or read.
