Family Christmas stay
Overall the property is in very good condition. There was only one annoyance out with the property owners control and that was the WiFi did not work for the whole stay, maintenance was being done however it should have been resolved in a week, in these day and ages it’s a necessity.

3/5 Okay

Disappointing Half term break
We booked the lodge on the assumption that our two young daughters could go swimming everyday during the half term holidays. Imagine our disappointment when on arrival the unhelpful management stated that we should have been informed by our host that we needed to book two weeks in advance to get into the family swim sessions. As it was we could only get into one session the whole week and then found the chlorine was far too much for out two. We ended up taking our two to the local leisure centre and spending a fortune on towels - it turned out that the local pool was better anyway. The golf was right on the doorstep however the management made you feel bad for booking a tee without having to pay green fees. These are currently part of the booking but they are changing the policy from 1st Nov so that all guests have to pay for their golf. The course itself is challenging though I had to get very early tee times to avoid competitions and senior events. I managed to get 1.5 rounds in and had to finish a round early due to the very slow four-ball in front who refused to let me through. The Spikes bar is completely overrated and the cost for a draught pint and two small lemonades was astronomical. There is literally nothing to do for young children on the complex which is basically aimed at seniors to play golf and get away from children. The surrounding areas also lack much in the way of any entertainment and we constantly had to drive everyday for over an hour to get to places of any interest for young children. To top it all every morning we were woken by the local RAF jets screeching across the skies from 7.30 am. The lodge was good though seriously lacked enough games for children. It was also a bit dirty on arrival and we found used knickers and crisp packets under one of the beds. We would only recommend coming here if you want to play golf (book well in advance), avoid children, enjoy overpriced good and drink and like listening to jets. It was obvious that if you booked via a private host the management just treat you with contempt and do not really want to help

5/5 Excellent

Excellent lodge in beautiful surroundings
Lovely clean, modern lodge with great views over the golf course. Very comfortable beds and furnishings. Not a huge amount to do in the local area, but a wonderful place to switch off and relax in a quiet environment.

A Splendid Week at Tydd St. Giles
My wife and I and our two dogs had a wonderfully relaxing week at the lodge. It has all of the essentials that are required for a comfortable stay and the amenities available at the golf course are the icing on the cake. For those with dogs or just a love of walking, the Nature Trail that surrounds the entire golf course is literally on your door step. There is not a lot to do in the immediate locality outside of the golf course, but a short trip in the car to Wisbech or Long Sutton has all the required shops / restaurants / pubs etc. My only minor criticism is that the WiFi speed in the lodge is below average at best and bad in the evenings as I assume that is it based on a shared system. Overall though, highly recommended. Simon.
