"Tired but comfortable rather than shabby chic"
Not your typical Hilton but more a throwback to a bygone age, comprising a two-storey building with no lift (a boarding school in one of its previous incarnations), annexe, outdoor and (smallish) indoor pools, gardens, golf course, and extensive car park. Driveway approaching the hotel entrance sets the scene and mood. We had booked through Expedia and, as expected, our requirements (NOT a top floor room) had been ignored when offered a top floor room at check-in! A bit of furious tapping at the keyboard found us a similar room more accessible for our needs. Room was fine albeit looking over the car park, bed comfortable, bathroom clean and spacious, fridge and safe worked, upright fan provided as no air conditioning other than opening the window. Corridors could have done with a bit of a spring clean, what with scuffed wallpaper and several dessicated wasps tangled in the window curtains. Dining facilities were very good, for evening meals and breakfast. The staff were very helpful and cheerful. Couple of wedding functions were being hosted over the weekend, but not intrusive.

We stayed at the mucky duck having been at an event nearby. From the arrival which was so welcoming to the delicious breakfast the following day I can't fault this pub. We had a great meal and the host could not have been more friendly. We will be returning.

"Perfect stay for a flight out of Gatwick "
The hotel was friendly as well as decently priced. We were visiting from Canada and I accidentally left some jewelry in the room, we were home before we noticed. They had it mailed to us within a week. Excellent service and a very comfortable room! Taxi cabs are expensive in the area but they use a car hire with a flat rate to the airport, talk to them about this.

"Room service!! "
Hotel staff were friendly. Room was clean apart from a half squeezed tube of savalon, which I suppose could have dropped out of the cleaners pocket. The only issues we had were that after an eight hour drive we arrived at 9:15 pm and room service finished at 9pm. Spent the night starving. Our room was next to reception which was ok until 7am when people started talking on phones and to other guests. I would recommend this hotel though as they were the only problems.

"Quiet character hotel in town"
Very quiet. Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Pleasant view over gardens. Hotel decor a little tired. Disappointing that bar was not open for Saturday lunch as advertised, but plenty of alternatives in town.
