Expecting better

Posted 31-Jul-2017
Got to the hotel was greeted pleasantly, said where the room was. Got to it and saw the bathroom was dirty amongst the tiles a lot of cleaning needed there, and on the taps too! A few bugs on the floor and some dirtiness all over didn't give off a great impression.

Hotel convenient to Watford town.

Posted 30-Jul-2017
Pros: Clean towels every day. Great shower.
Cons: See above. Also, the charges in dining room are poor. £11 for continental breakfast is too dear. Also £3.50 for cup of tea is too much.
Location: Hotel on bypass so no things to do.
Requested alarm call did not happen Bathroom uncleaned. Tray uncleaned with dirty cups from day before. one teabag and one milk on our tray when we first arrived.

Maybe we've stayed here too many times!

This is our 5th time of staying at this hotel, possibly our last! Room wasn't as clean as other times, spa needed a good clean and jaccuzi wasn't working. Disappointed

Great hotel

Posted 06-Jul-2017
We had room 129. It was roomy, bed comfy. Maids were very noisy in the corridor from early morning, though we had earplugs luckily. Take some just in case. The pool area was great and clean. Chinese restaurant 1/2 mile up the road was fab. Would recommend.

Very dated for the money it cost, not a 4*

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: All of the above
The hotel is dated and where I can see they have tried to modernise this has been done on a budget i.e painted anaglyptia wall paper it still feels very old and tired. The walls are really thin to the point that I could hear everything the people in the room next were saying and doing. The bedroom doors would benefit from a soft close device, doors were slamming constantly from 10pm till past midnight which is not ideal when you are trying to get an early night. The shower came out in a trickle and was split and coming out of the side and I had to opt for a bath instead which in turn took nearly 15 minutes to run due to the water pressure. Overall not a great stay and for £103 I expected more. lastly I booked a double room online and ended up with a twin!! I stay in Watford twice a month and have stayed in a number of hotels in the area, this comes bottom of my list.

Not the best

Posted 01-Jun-2017
Room was not as described, even after being moved. Needs major updating and rooms boiling hot, even on a cold day. Evening meal ok but service very slow, and non-existent at breakfast.

The standard of the hotel was disappointing. Room was in many places unclean , smell was musty , communal area not clean , looked understaffed and the food was under whelming. Toilet did not flush property communal toilet was an apology.

Disappointing breakfast

Posted 23-May-2017
Pros: The room seemed clean and comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast needs much improvement and the flexibility to check in a bit earlier if a room is available with no extra cost.
Location: We were a few more les from Te Harry potter Studios which was convenient.
Hotel location was good for visiting The Harry Potter studios. Room was ok, tiny bath and when showering the water didn't drain well. Breakfast was disappointing, when I went down at 9am there was no egg, so I sat with a bowl of fruit that was dull in colour and looked dry (pineapple and watermelon) I told server about the egg. Then went back to find egg but no beans and no bacon. I waited for a few minutes then beans came out, waited a bit longer than gave up as my breakfast was going cold. The hotel staff I met were friendly but the hotel is tired looking and breakfast wasn't the standard that I would expect of a so called 4* hotel. I wouldn't stay here again. When we arrived at 1pm we were told we can't check in until 2pm which we knew but no effort was made to see if there was a room ready ( in the past I've been given a room if one is ready) we were told 'there is a charge of £20 for an early check in.

Quiet hotel

Posted 19-May-2017
I came for a course that took place in the hotel. I was given a very far and old room with no light above the sink. I asked 3 times to change the light bold on two consecutive days but it has not been fixed. On my last night (out of 4 nights) I was finally moved to a much newer and improved room which was much nicer, was comfortable and had a light above the sink. I wished I had been given that room before...
