Wonderful small hotel with superior service!
The owners of Casa dos Rui's could not have been any kinder or more helpful to us. First Pedro and Teresa greeted us with a glass of their winery's port (despite our later than agreed upon arrival)! Then they spent considerable effort helping us to resolve a problem with a toll ticket from the A-41highway. Teresa then realized that the extra bed in the family room that we had reserved wasn't really suitable for our elderly father and insisted on accommodating him in a second private room at no extra charge to us. When they learned that my husband is quite interested in wines and winemaking, they invited us the next day to tour their family's winery. José (Teresa's brother) gave us a very nice tour the next day as well as let us taste 3 of their wines (yum!) and more of their very delicious port! Rarely have we met a family as genuinely kind and friendly as the extended Rodrigues family. The Casa dos Rui's was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and stylish. Breakfast was very good (meats, cheese, yogurt, pastries, fruit, cereals, coffee,tea and juice). The small town of Tabuaço was very enjoyable to walk around, with several local restaurants available. Also, be sure to go to the Town Information Center to see the most complex and interesting clock you'll ever see, the Riomax! Our stay at Casa dos Rui's was a great value and a truly enjoyable and memorable experience. Highly recommended!
