Waterfront Holiday home in Strathcarron with kitchen
Robin Lodge is a strategically sited three bedroomed, two bathroom house with a panoramic view over Lochcarron , the open sea Loch which goes out to the island of Skye. Robin Lodge is situated in the village of Lochcarron at the base of two passes one going to Applecross and the other to the Island of Skye. The village of Lochcarron is on the famous tourist route called " North Coast 500" close to all amenities at the same time peaceful and quiet. Robin Lodge is a Finnish constructed building with a direct view over the Loch to Atterdale Estate where the Highland Games are held every summer. The Lodge is 1 kilometre away from the superb rustic rural 9 hole Lochcarron golf course which sports an open clubhouse and tearoom. A very comfortable and practical place to base a trip to the Scottish Highlands as a place to relax or to explore the many different sightseeing drives to the Northwest coast of Scotland .The Applecross pass close by is the highest pass in Scotland and Lochcarron is en route to the Inverewe gardens and Ullapool....all three destinations are day trips.

There are two hotels with restaraunts close by one is just below the lodge on the beach road. In addition there is a café on the waterside and a bistro. A quaint train station 2 kilometres away is in the adjacent village Strathcarron on the rail line which goes along the loch on the magnificent scenic pass to the Kyle of Lochalsh (the town on the mainland coast opposite the Isle of Skye.) A mini-shuttle bus meets the train and journeys into Lochcarron village just below Robin Lodge.

The Lodge is on a very popular cycling route to the North West and a convenient place for cyclists who would like to do a mixture of cycling and train journeys to the island of Skye and other interesting sites from a comfortable base. There are mountain biking tracks close by. The area has a number of craft and food industries which make their wares available in the summer. Lochcarron the village has one of the best industries for highland tartans and has a dedicated outlet and historical loom for their manufacture. The village has a number of innovative potteries some offer courses in the summer and art galleries in the area stock some well known local artists work. The Village has active theatre groups and musical events are organised in the village hall.

There is boating on the Loch and many sites of interest in the area. It is an ideal starting point for hill walking with many well mapped medium easy routes and steep routes for those who look for a challenge. Organised guided kayaking is close by. The village has a medical centre and there is an A and E unit on the Island of Skye at Broadford. There are two garages which do repairs and two sets of petrol bowsers in the village making it a good place to journey from.

The Lodge is well constructed colourfully decorated and comfortable with all basic conveniences utensils and communication . It has an internet facility and wireless contact.. It is very well insulated and uses safe storage heating of very good quality. It is cleaned thoroughly before holidaymakers arrive and any problems can be dealt with by local contacts close to the lodge. The Lodge gets its name from the Red Breasted Robins that on occaisions will trust guests and enter through the lounge door if left open. It is a good place for bird watchers and has bird identification charts available for amateurs.

Giant Herons nest in the neighbouring forests and Golden Eagles can be seen flying over the mountains and across the loch. Deer, which are abundant in the area will sometimes stray into the village and have been known to enter the garden of the Lodge. From the lounge window there is a panoramic 180 degree view over the Loch and the pass to the Kyle of Lochalsh.

It is perfect place to take trips of historical interest . The surrounding industries of craft,whisky distilleries and fishing are interesting and the local people are attuned to and supportive of tourists.
Air-conditioned accommodation at this holiday home offers coffee/tea makers and a hairdryer. This accommodation is furnished with sofa beds and dining tables. Kitchens offer fridges, hobs, microwaves and kitchenware and utensils.

Perfect location for family time
We had a fantastic stay at Robin Lodge. Communication with David was excellent which made finding the lodge after 9 hours in the car stress free. The view on arrival was breathtaking. The children enjoyed exploring the house and outside garden. the decoration and furnishing added charm to the lodge. The property was really well equipped with all the mod-cons and everything else you needed for a family holiday and day trips out. There are plenty of instructions for all the appliances in the house and guides on what to do to enjoy the area. This was particularly useful and we took up the suggestions and had a great time. The children loved the souvenirs and biscuits that David left for us. Such a lovely thought. Thank you! We even had the opportunity to meet Carol our host and she was absolutely lovely and really warm and friendly. We would return to Robins Lodge again and would highly recommend it if you’re looking for undisturbed family time.

Excellent location, accommodation and facilities
We had a fantastic time at Robin Lodge. We had plenty of room for a family of 5. The views from the lodge and garden are magnificent. The kitchen well stocked with anything you need. Communications from host David superb. Really recommend this place and would love to stay longer next time we’re in Scotland. It’s strategically located for a day trip to Skye and trips along NC500.
