Second stay at Spot. Came in the off-season this time so it was quieter and not as sunny out, but once again we had a great time.
The hotel is very well located. A minute's walk and you're in the forest. The local attractions/landmarks are a short cycle/drive away, with some small local pubs within a short walk too. Being on the outside of Lyndhurst you don't have to plan for the traffic if you go further out either.
Food was excellent once again. All of the menus are well thought-out, packed with local produce, and a good mix of traditional and unique/signature options. The veggie/vegan options are just as tasty and creative, definitely not afterthoughts.
The staff were all friendly, welcoming and as helpful as they could possibly be, and were a real highlight of this visit.
The Shepherd's hut was awesome. Super cosy thanks to the electric log burner, comfy bed, and had a power shower, Nespresso machine (+kettle), big fridge, plus decent Wi-Fi, a smart TV, and a DAB radio. On top of the usual complementary tea/coffee there were Nespresso pods and some local/handmade items which was a welcoming touch. Spot is already very dog friendly, but the hut with its personal outdoor garden area makes it even better for any furry visitors. The huts are well-sheltered around mature trees and hedges, so in windy/rainy weather they were still quiet. Hearing the owls at sunset was really cool too!
I can't recommend Spot enough. We'll be back again for sure!
