Old PO House, South Uist. Mountains, Machair, Sea

Lakefront Holiday home with kitchen and fireplace
The Old Post Office House is a stone built, 150 year old cottage in Stilligarry South Uist and is our family holiday home that we share when we're not there.

It's a 15 minute stroll to the pristine white sand beach at Stilligarry and the three mountains, Beinn Mhòr, Hecla and Beinn Choradail are at hand for walkers.

The Old PO House is a cosy home from home in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Old PO House is all about being cosy after a great day out on the beaches or hills of the Uists. Of course there is central heating and there are two working, fireplaces downstairs! All the beds have feather duvets and pillows. The king size master bed and single bedroom have just had new beds and pocket sprung mattresses.

Even though it's a historic building, there is high speed fibre WiFi and a 43" Flatscreen Smart TV to keep you entertained.

For the musicians among you there is a guitar and ukele. Please take care of them as they were a gift but feel free to enjoy them.

The Hebrides are one of the most unique landscapes in Europe. The combination of mountains and crystal clear sea make them a paradise for those who love the outdoors.

Surfing, Wind and Kitesurfing can be practiced a short walk away and on many of the local beaches. The cycling is excellent, Those who like to watch birds will be rewarded with lots of seabirds, golden eagles and white tailed fish eagles within the surrounding few miles.

For those into country sports, the fishing is excellent and there is the opportunity to shoot in season. The house has a gun locker for those here to shoot, you'll need to bring a padlock if you want to lock it. If you have gundogs they are most welcome to stay in the large, dry shed.
Guest accommodation at this holiday home offers fireplaces and DVD players. Kitchens offer fridges, hobs, microwaves and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include a combined bath/shower unit and hairdryers. Cots/infant beds are also available.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on-site or nearby; fees may apply.

Excellent base for exploring the Uists
Nice old house with character. We don't tend to watch much TV but with some awful weather access to online sources on a big screen was a blessing. Saw short eared owls hunting in the early evening just a few miles up the road plus a Merlin in the field next to the house. Loch Sgioport, part of the bird of prey trail is just a 10 minute drive away but can be reached by a (boggy) walk via the track behind the house - well worth the effort. There were only two of us but the house would comfortably sleep 5. Would be more than happy to stay here again on a future visit. Loved it.
