Don’t Miss This Gem: Beauty and Proximity!
If you plan to stay in the Digby area, I highly encourage you to consider this property. The hosts are delightful, the home is clean and well appointed, and the “ahhh” factor of life by the lake can’t be beat.
There are two nice sized bedrooms, a full bath, a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a living room. There’s plenty of room to move around. There is also a lovely wrap around porch. This is where we spent most of our time while we were at the cottage.... reading, drinking coffee, gazing at the lake, and listening to the loons.
Neil was SO very helpful to us. He did everything from meeting us in town upon our arrival, answering all of our questions, and coming out to the cottage when we needed a bit of assistance in having the path cleared to the lake. He is delightful, and great fun to chat with. If you want to know anything about the area, just ask. He’s sure to be able to help out.
The path to the lake is just around the corner from the cottage, and walkable with shoes on (I wouldn’t recommend you do it barefoot). We took our kayaks down to the lake for the week and just left them on shore for the duration of our visit. There’s a tiny secluded area from which to launch, which makes it a nice to place to leave the kayaks without worrying about them being too visible to passers-by. One word of caution: if you do go out on the lake, be sure to take a close look at the shore before you head out. The cottage and the launch area are well camouflaged, and you don’t want to find yourself searching for home! But, DO go out on the lake. It is lovely. There is also an amazing outlet off to the left of the cabin. It is like paddling into a bit of paradise on earth!
We used the cottage as “home base” as we went to see the sights in the Digby area. It is well situated for just such adventures. We took the trip down the Digby Neck to Brier Island, went to the Digby Scallop Days (yum!), found a nice beach on the Bay of Fundy, visited the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens, and did a few hiking trails around the Bay of Fundy. Just note that *nothing* is really close to anything in Nova Scotia. So, a hour’s drive to anything is a pretty good bet and this location was just the thing.
Thank you, Neil! If we ever come back to this area of Nova Scotia again, we will likely be knocking at your door!
