It used to be a friendly place

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Hotel is the same but the staff is rude now and then you get into your room and are confronted with numerous signs posted about how if you disobey any number of rules you will be evicted without refund. I was disappointed because this used to be a nice friendly hotel in a great location.

Inexpensive, convenient, and close to the beach

Pros: Quiet and peaceful
Location: Nearby fireworks on Saturday nights; Convention Center and Nature Walk; Turtle Conservation Center
Relaxing time with children at a family oriented place. Proximity to beach.

Gluten Free Family of Four

Posted 24-Jun-2012
Pros: location & price
Cons: needs to be a little updated but ok rustic feel
Location: close to the beach
We went for a week with our two children. The location was about 2 blocks from the sand. It's a good price for what you get. If you need a kitchen set you can rent one from the office for $10 per stay. Though the kitchen ware that comes in the tub isn't in the best condition and it needs to be upgraded. Some of the plastic stir spoons were melted. The tile in the room made it easy for clean up though you don't get a mop. Overall the location and money were well worth it. We ended up staying an extra night we liked it so much. If you are gluten free or have any other food allergy the full kitchen is a must. I agree with other reviews do not rent room #12, it's right under some stairs that make it dark and tucked away. We stayed in room #15 and it was right in front of the pool and a grill.

Very disappointed, no service staff available.

Posted 19-Jun-2012
Pros: Full size refrigerator
Cons: Not really a hote, more of a motel with no service staff except to take your $ at check in.
Location: O.K. if no one will be visiting. We had to drive off-site to meet friends & avoid charges/towing and to find restaurants. Is 2-3 blocks from beach
Moldy restroom. Paint peeling. Hairs in linens. Staff there @ checkin but nowhere to be found @ night & early mornings. Called front desk before 11pm, no answer; walked over & there were numbers posted for afterhours & emergencies- called the afterhours # & got a message that they shut off the phone from 11pm-9am - called before 11 pm but didn't get a call until next morning around 9. Signs in room state you are expected to clean the room, "at least sweep clean". Small TV, uncomfortable beds, floor is NOT carpeted. Cramped & deteriorating restroom (small, round toilet, not a standard oval). Kitchen sink had cold/hot water, bathroom sink cold/warm, shower had COLD/COOL water only. Very rough towels (no softener). Bring own towels, theirs are NOT for use at pool or beach, also bring own shampoo, none provided. The hotel website highlights this as one of the oldest at SPI - it shows once you walk into the room – all cinder block construction. Ask for WiFi passcode upon checkin, no info in room & staff unavailable. If bringing pets & wish to prepare meals rather than go out, this may be a good option, otherwise, you’ll be very disappointed. Never rated/reviewed a hotel before, this experience warranted it. If anyone visits you, their policy is to charge $10pp, even if not staying, and no parking available except for 1 spot/room. “Do Not Disturb” is not an option (no doortags), went for an iron at front desk, they had to deliver it, probably to check if any guests present.

Would go back but avoid unit 10

Posted 29-May-2012
Pros: Excellent location, just a few steps from the beach.
Cons: The unit we stayed at was too dark and basement like.
Location: The location is great.....close to the beach and close to restaurants
We would visit again. The location is excellent, but the unit we had was Unit #10 and it felt like a dungeon/basement. No windows, except the small window in the door. The beds were too noisey, but the sheets were clean. The floors left our socks black, but kitchenette and bathroom were clean. We were disappointed because we didn't have a grill outside to use or chairs to sit outside like most of the units. We would go back but stay in another unit besides #10.

Private Comfort

Posted 19-May-2012
Pros: Friendly and down to earth service.
Cons: Parking kind of limited for my truck. I was afraid to hit other cars.
Location: Close to everything but it felt like it was a secluded resort.
Not upscale but good for family fun and comfort. If you're looking for free breakfast and front desk service this isn't for you. I really liked it because it was secluded and had everything I required, but I'm not all uppity about luxury. I want to go back and take my kids. :)

nice location

Posted 16-Apr-2012
Pros: Pool
Cons: Beds
Location: Perfect!
The shower kinda smelled like urine and the beds were uncomfortable but other than that for the price the place was good and close to the beach. My kids loved it!
