Nice hotel

Posted 20-May-2016
Cons: TV in room and shower
very helpful staff, room was clean only odd thing was the fact the TV was so small and had limited channels really is surprising in this day an age. Shower was also pretty poor quality, other than those two small things couldn't fault it

disappointing experience

Posted 15-Apr-2016
Pros: The old world charm.
Cons: Front desk politeness and guest services.
Location: The location was remote and there was not much nearby to do.
they were not very attentive, polite, helpful or gracious from the time I first arrived to the moment I left. There was one night manager who understood what I was going through and showed genuine concern. The complimentary breakfast was poorly prepared and tasted awful. I was extremely dehydrated and I requested a bottle of water. I was told to drink water from the bathroom sink. I was shocked!!!

classy looking but dissapointing

Posted 14-Apr-2016
Pros: staff
Cons: the rooms slope and the lift is a bit creaky
Location: croydon area if you like shopping its great and it is only a 30 minute train ride from east croydon to victoria
to start all the disabled parking spaces were taken by wedding guests at a reception no disabled guests and we had to park as far away from the hotel as the car park could manage the room was supposed to be a superior double but it was not very big on the form was written £54 except i paid £116, a nice receptionist moved us into a larger room although we still only got the view of the car park and not the beautiful rolling surrey hillsides, breakfast was nice and the staff were mostly friendly.this was a little disapointing as it was the first time we had had a night away from the kids for 20 yrs

Altenglisches Flair mit wenig modernem Komfort

Posted 10-Apr-2016
Pros: Besonders gefiel uns das altenglische Ambiente im Empfangsbereich (holzgetäfelte Wände, Standuhr, Wandteppiche, Stuckdecke usw.), schöne Lage.
Cons: Abgegriffene Bad-Armaturen. Eine Nachttischlampe defekt. Unhygienischer alter Teppichboden, veraltete Polstersessel.

Convenient for south london

Posted 11-Mar-2016
Pros: Size History
Cons: Standard of food
Location: Great golf
We arrived unannounced and were able to book a twin room on the spot , on a Wednesday evening. It was clean , tidy and comfortable . Cold on arrival we turned the heating on immediately and lovely and warm an hour or 2 later .We chose to eat all meals out as we felt the menu was expensive for what it was. Would definitely return . The golf course looks extremely tempting and very reasonable by way of green fees .

Selsdon Park Review

Posted 01-Mar-2016 on Hotels
Lovely impressive hotel in beautiful grounds but let down as it really needs a refurbishment. Room was okay but far too hot and I couldn't turn the heating down. Bar area was bland with no atmosphere and grossly overpriced drinks. Lager was £4.99 a pint and if you had San Miguel it was £5.18

old, fairly clean hotel

Posted 28-Feb-2016 on Hotels
It's a quite old hotel, old mattress, old bulky TV and kettle, especially the TV, it's ages old and very limited channel, signal not stable. The room is clean though. It's quiet as off the road. If you don't mind the old then go for it!

Not worth staying overnight

Posted 21-Feb-2016 on Hotels
My wife and I stayed 12 nights. We've visited the UK every year since 2010. This is the worst place we have stayed. Positives & Negatives: (+) Very nice building to visit during the day (SPA facilities, perhaps the golf course, a meal, a walk around outside). Staff were very pleasant. (-) Extremely noisy at night (the hotel is used for private parties with very load music until the early hours). (-) Noisy from room next door all night (had a locked adjoining door). (-) No control over the heating (opening windows meant lots of noise from groups of smokers outside the public bar until early hours).

The hotel building has some impressive orginal features though elements were looking very tired, for example the steam room which felt quite dirty. However, the staff were very welcoming. I was disappointed that the gym and breakfast only opened at 7am, which for the working week is quite late.
