It is a lovely, comfortable & homely hotel. However, the absolute bonus is their restaurant, the food (small plates/tapas) is excellent, as are the cocktails and wine list. It’s a shame it is not near our home as we would be very regular visitors! ##### Lisa Stayed 1 night in Sep 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Maria 19 Nov 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort #### Plume of Feathers Lovely stay at the Plume of feathers. The staff were fantastic and made sure that my stay was great. The food was fantastic but the highlight is the small courtyard garden which has been made into a beautiful, peaceful spot for a lovely glass of wine before dinner. Thank you Plume! ##### Allyson Stayed 1 night in Sep 2022 ### 4/10 Poor #### Tammy 14 Aug 2023 Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities Dusty to where we had to leave window open all night & sent them a email & still not got back to us plus the breakfast was more like a kids so for the price for 1 night or £170 not happy ##### Tammy Stayed 1 night in Aug 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Mark 3 Apr 2017 Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities, room comfort #### Perfect place for a short stay in Sherborne A lovely stay. The room was much bigger than it appears on the photos, you have a separate bedroom, lounge and bathroom. It's all been recently refurbished to a really high standard. Plenty of room for a family of 4, the double bed was comfortable and the sofa bed was fine. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, they couldn't have done more to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast, which was included in the price, was huge and very tasty. The pub itself was quite quiet on the Saturday night we stayed but all the staff were very friendly. Overall we will definitely stay here again when we are back in Sherborne. ##### Mark ### 8/10 Good #### Amanda 10 May 2024 Liked: Staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities Pros - wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows, lovely sheets and soft fluffy towels. A lovely newly refurbished bathroom and lots of lovely hot water and nice toiletries. The food is superb, both dinner and breakfast, with lots of choice and cannot be faulted. Dogs allowed everywhere, which for us is a massive plus with 2 dogs. Opposite the Abbey so in a marvellous position for seeing the area by foot and parking is free as well Cons - chipped paintwork in room and bathroom, needed a re-paint of walls and the lovely wooden sash windows were dirty with peeling paint and a pane of glass was cracked. The coffee table was chipped and shabby and the general state of cleaning/dusting sadly let the room down ##### Amanda Stayed 1 night in May 2024 ### 6/10 Okay #### Malgorzata 21 Apr 2025 Liked: Staff & service We have recently stay in Family Room. To be honest for 2 nights including breakfast we thought that is quite reasonable price to pay as the Room was spacious. However need some TLC and good cleaning. Window in bedroom broken-can’t close properly, lots of cow webs on the lighting and also good dusting is needed.Bulbs need replacing on the side table in the Tv room too. Generally good and proper hover and cleaning would help . On the positive note the bed was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom needs repair/replace shower head as it was constantly moving around and hot water tub for bath is not working properly. Also shower wall needs attention-silicone sealer. Toilet seat needs good cleaning especially on the back seat -it was dirty with orange and brown stains on the silver screws. Breakfast was mix results tbh as on Sunday morning we had perfectly served Full English breakfast however on Monday-sausage was undercooked-was red inside and water too. When we call for service we received information that it was cure and good to eat and we said it was not cooked correctly. Instead of going back and forth service should just say simple apology and admit the mistake,it was unnecessary and unprofessional ,also the portion size was much smaller than they before and presentation could be better. Overall I think our stay wasn’t worth £250 for just 2 nights with all this issues which could be easily solved. ##### Malgorzata Stayed 2 nights in Apr 2025 ### 6/10 Okay #### Sarah 30 Nov 2023 Liked: Staff & service I found this hotel very overpriced. £130 for the evening. The room was cold and unwelcoming, had to call the reception to ask to put the heating on in the room. The cafetière had not been cleaned and was had the previous guests coffee still in there I had to wash out before use. Room was tired and bathroom a little grubby. Staff were excellent in the pub, but for the price of the room- it was not worth the cost at all. Disappointing stay and I would not return. ##### Sarah Stayed 1 night in Nov 2023 ### 6/10 Okay #### Verified traveller 1 Feb 2024 Liked: Staff & service Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities #### Some rooms better than others Stayed in the Hayloft which seems to be slightly cheaper than the other rooms, but in hindsight I wished I’d paid a bit more for a room in the main building. The bathroom is down a flight of stairs and very cold, tiny with rust, mildew and cobwebs. Really needs renovation. Pumps on 2 out of the 3 toiletries didn’t work, including the hand soap and they’re bolted in to the wall (which has taken off half the ceramic tile in the process). The room itself is large but as someone else has commented, the heating is pre-programmed and can only be changed using a PIN number (which isn’t shown in the room) so it came on at odd times in the night, then cold again in the morning. Velux window blind above the bed is jammed half open and can’t be moved, which isn’t great for shutting out the light for a good nights sleep. Basically, didn’t sleep well at all. Great breakfast and friendly staff though and the pub itself is nicely done out. Just need to renovate that bathroom and give the room a bit of TLC before I’d stay again. ##### Verified traveller Stayed 1 night in Jan 2024 ### 4/10 Poor #### Lynn 31 Aug 2025 Liked: Staff & service I had been advised by another traveller to avoid the Hayloft Room and made this request but guess which room I got!!….. the bathroom was very narrow and down a steep narrow flight of stairs not good if you need the loo during the night and over 60 !! - no plug near a mirror and the worse thing of all was the church bells directly opposite my room which rang on the 1/4 hr throughout the night so I got no sleep!! My friends joined me for breakfast (my treat) which cost me £41 for 2 x egg on toast with tomatoes and 2 coffees - needless to say I will not be stopping there again - on the upside the staff were very pleasant ![‘The bells’](https://a.travel-assets.com/ugc/hotel-reviews/10d74982-969a-4c0f-ae1d-aecf3e777cf9-1756664294840.jpg?impolicy=resizecrop&rw=204&ra=fit&q=high) ##### Lynn Stayed 1 night in Aug 2025 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Keith 15 Apr 2025 ##### Keith Stayed 1 night in Apr 2025 ### 10/10 Excellent #### krzysztof 27 Jan 2025 Liked: Cleanliness ##### krzysztof Stayed 3 nights in Jan 2025 ### 4/10 Poor #### Joanne 29 Nov 2024 Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities ##### Joanne Stayed 1 night in Nov 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### pavan 10 Nov 2024 ##### pavan Stayed 2 nights in Oct 2024 ### 4/10 Poor #### Takayuki 8 Oct 2024 Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities ##### Takayuki Stayed 2 nights in Sep 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### glen 1 Aug 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities ##### glen Stayed 1 night in Jul 2024 ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [The Coppid Beech Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bracknell-Hotels-The-Coppid-Beech-Hotel.h3809.Hotel-Information) > > [Carden Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-Carden-Park.h190780.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-London-Gatwick-Airport.h7234788.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton London Stansted Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stansted-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-London-Stansted-Airport.h18464320.Hotel-Information) > > [Stratford Manor Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stratford-Upon-Avon-Hotels-Stratford-Manor.h27936.Hotel-Information) > > [Ashford International Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashford-Hotels-Ashford-International-Hotel.h527123.Hotel-Information) > > [Retallack Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/St-Columb-Major-Hotels-Retallack-Resort.h4537229.Hotel-Information) > > [Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Bloc-Hotel-London-Gatwick-Airport.h6594190.Hotel-Information) > > [Sand Bay Holiday Village](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Weston-Super-Mare-Hotels-Sand-Bay-Holiday-Village.h11443695.Hotel-Information) > > [St Michael's Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Falmouth-Hotels-St-Michaels-Resort.h2951426.Hotel-Information) > > [Crowne Plaza Stratford Upon Avon by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stratford-Upon-Avon-Hotels-Crowne-Plaza-Stratford-Upon-Avon.h11307.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Hilton-London-Gatwick-Airport.h20753.Hotel-Information) > > [Norbreck Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Blackpool-Hotels-Norbreck-Castle-Hotel.h6377.Hotel-Information) > > [Eastwell Manor, Champneys Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashford-Hotels-Eastwell-Manor.h905662.Hotel-Information) > > [Camelot Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Tintagel-Hotels-Camelot-Castle-Hotel.h8083111.Hotel-Information) > > [Hollins Hall Hotel, Golf & Country Club](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Shipley-Hotels-Hollins-Hall-Hotel.h63744.Hotel-Information) > > [Chesford Grange Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Kenilworth-Hotels-Chesford-Grange.h920291.Hotel-Information) > > [Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Folkestone-Hotels-Grand-Burstin-Hotel-Folkestone.h1201483.Hotel-Information) > > [The Mill Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-The-Mill-Hotel-Spa.h1695656.Hotel-Information) > > [Village Hotel Manchester Ashton](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashton-Under-Lyne-Hotels-Village-Hotel-Manchester-Ashton.h1848975.Hotel-Information) > > [The Winchester Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Winchester-Hotels-The-Winchester-Hotel-Spa.h26080.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton at St George's Park, Burton Upon Trent](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Burton-On-Trent-Hotels-Hilton-At-St-Georges-Park.h5094740.Hotel-Information) > > [Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester, Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Radisson-Blu-Hotel-Manchester.h120016.Hotel-Information) > > [The Spa Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Royal-Tunbridge-Wells-Hotels-The-Spa-Hotel.h8849.Hotel-Information) > > [Hythe Imperial Hotel Spa & Golf](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hythe-Hotels-Hythe-Imperial-Hotel-Spa-Golf.h9108.Hotel-Information) > > [The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell, Derbyshire](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bakewell-Hotels-The-Rutland-Arms-Hotel.h792056.Hotel-Information) > > [Harbour Beach Club & Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Salcombe-Hotels-Harbour-Beach-Club-Hotel-Spa.h2261933.Hotel-Information) > > [Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa -
