Spirited Hotel

Posted 21-Feb-2018
The staff was friendly and check in/out was efficient. The bar/restaurant attached to the hotel was a very popular place! Breakfast was AMAZING and came included with the purchase of your hotel room. Good for if you wanted a drink, some food, to watch the game, or play some pool. Noise from the bar wasn't an issue in the room. We had no connection to the wifi in our room, so we had to go and sit in the bar/restaurant when we wanted to connect to the wifi - that was a little bit of a nuisance. The bed was SUPER uncomfortable. I had springs sticking into my hip and ribs... terrible sleep. Also , while this wasn't the hotels fault necessarily, we had a man banging on our window and the outside door beside our room at 4 am. He apparently forgot the passcode to get in after hours. It woke us up and freaked us out! Again, did not help with the uncomfortable sleep we were already having. Overall, if you're in the area to be social and you want to get your buzz on before falling asleep (so that you don't feel the springs from the mattress poking you) - I would recommend this hotel. Otherwise, spend a little bit more money and get a good night's sleep!

Hotel !!!!!! Good pub

Posted 19-Nov-2017
Arrived as per expedia information 14:00 hrs, we arrived 14:50. Hotel looked derelict, notice advised hotel opening hours 16:00 hrs , we went into the center to have a coffee with very low expectations of what next on our return to the hotel . When we arrived back at 15:55 hrs a member of staff turned up, I explained our disappointment, however, when we were let in I asked to see our room, the member of staff looked at us in absolute disgust!!!! When I seen the allocated room I had no idea what to think , bed was clean , decor was absolutely unbelievably bad with a smell of dampness (I can't explain the decor but I have many photos of the reality ) wow. When I asked if another room could be made available I was told No , mmmmmmmmm at this point I was advised there was a 7 day cancellation agreement ...... I had no intention of throw away £100 , so let's make the best of a very very bad situation, as I said the bed and towels were all exceptionaly clean, staff were nice and under a lot of pressure , However, never ever accepted Room 6, this had the out of hours entertainment door which was slammed more by the staff than the guests when leaveing the premises at 01:00 hrs then entering again at 07:00 hrs .......... a last resort hotel.

One night stay

Posted 27-Oct-2017
Pros: Price
Cons: See above
Location: Location fine for us on the Aviemore main street near to shops.
Arrived at 2pm as per Expedia booking but hotel not open until 4pm Room very small , decor very poor and particularly paintwork. Lighting needs improving. Bathroom very small with dodgy wc. The shower cabinet was small. Tea/ coffee table covered in sugar , kettle ok. Bed comfy and clean. Had to turn off radiator at 12.45pm very hot. Food was fine and good selection of wine and beers. Parking area fine.

Simply dreadful. Don't waste your money. They advertise themselves as a hotel, but this place is a glorified backparkers at best. I was charged in exccess of £70 for an en suite room that had four bunkbeds in it. It smelled of damp, the paint job and decor lookes as though it had been done by a branch of 'care in the comminity' and I daren't even use the shower as the whole place was unclean. When I attempted a complaint to a lady working behing the bar she asked if was in room 8 (or whatever room I was staying in), I said 'yes' and 'interesting how had she guessed that!!!', obviously the room I was in has a lot of complaints. She then proceeded to tell me that the room I was in was really a backpackers room. Begs the question why isn't it advertised as a run down back packers hostel posing as a hotel. Hotels. com handled things as well as they always do, which is to a high standard, (i am a gold memeber and travel on business a lot), but the place itself and the staff were dreadful. Don't go there!!!!

Decor a joke! Mould in bathroom. Bed comfortable.

Excellent bespoke cooked breakfast. Room looked as if it had been decorated on a primary school work experience! New washers needed on taps. Clean sheets and towels.
