About this property
Charming log cabin surrounded by the hills of the Cleveland National Forest
Come enjoy the serenity of the country at "The Cabin". This charming log cabin is nestled among native Pine and Oak trees and is located at the foot of the Laguna Mountains, surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest and United States Forest Service (USFS) land. The location of this home provides the solitude you'd hope for in a forest cabin with good proximity to the little country town of Pine Valley which has a beautiful county park with 2 newly refurbished playgrounds, a baseball field, basketball court and tennis court. The town also offers a library, market, antique store and a few restaurants. If you would like to see more antiques all you need to do is travel over to the nearby town of Descanso to the popular Descanso Mercantile and Ivy Gate Cottage. There is plenty of unspoiled wilderness in nearby Noble Canyon with access to an abundance of trails which are popular for horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking, varying from an easy stroll to day long adventures for even the most avid thrill seeker.
There is something close by for everyone in Pine Valley. If you like to fish, then bring your fishing pole as Lake Morena and Lake Cuyamaca are just a short drive away. Or take an even shorter drive up to the Laguna Mountains which will put you at an elevation of 6,000 feet. In the winter this is a great place for sledding. Should you desire to venture a little further, you may like to explore the quaint old gold mining town of Julian with its many shops, restaurants and famous apple pie! The nice thing about San Diego County is one day you can have an excursion in the mountains and the next day you can be at the beach. The very beautiful La Jolla Shores and the world famous Sea World are less than an hour away. Oh and don't forget the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park, which are all adventures close enough to do in a day's time.
Should you prefer to just relax at home you can do so under an umbrella of oak trees with only the sound of native birds and the breeze rustling through the trees on the large deck with outdoor firepit. This cozy rustic cabin sits on a 1/2 acre with a beautifully landscaped setting surrounded by 3 undeveloped properties and is one of the more private locations in Pine Valley. Spring and Summer offer sunny days with cool nights. In the winter months, there is always the chance of snow and the enjoyment of hot chocolate by the fireplace. This cabin is located on a quiet, dirt road with very limited traffic and interruptions - a true escape from the daily grind! Wildlife such as raccoons, deer and turkeys call this beautiful valley home, a birdwatchers dream for sure.

What a wonderful place to stay! With family living in Pine Valley, this is a great rental to be able to use when we have visitors come to town. The cabin is very well equipped and cozy.
We wanted to meet up with our sons for Thanksgiving. We all cooked, played games, went for a hike, and watched a movie. It was a memorable weekend and the perfect place to be! weekendholidayholidayweekend.
Cozy and comfortable cottage in rural Pine Valley. Well furnished and tucked away on the edge of town. The access road is very rough and dusty. Overall our stay was very good. Would stay again.
Great cabin in a woodsy, central part of Pine Valley. Feels like you’re in a private, remote area but everything you need is nearby. We went fishing to Lake Cuyamaca and to Julian the next day. Both an easy drive from the cabin. We will definitely stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The house was so cozy and clean..and had all the amenities we needed. I was amazed that the appliances were from and era where they actually worked well! The host was awesome..very concerned about our comfort during our stay.
We stayed here for a multigenerational family long weekend retreat. It was lovely! Clean, very well appointed, easy parking, nice backyard. The kids enjoyed plenty of outdoor and indoor time together. Adults loved the convenience of nice kitchen and bedrooms. This property is a bargain!
We have stayed twice at this property, both times over a Presidents weekend. The rental cost is a good deal. 3 bedrooms and a big backyard for kids. Keep in mind no forced air heating or air conditioning. Wood burning stove and fans. The kitchen is small but very workable. Two of the bedrooms have good beds, one has a mattress that really should be replaced. I like this spot, it's very convenient, very affordable, we'll likely come again!
What a perfect setting ! Everything was in good working condition, plenty of towels and so so cozy. Made our annual family reunion that much more memorable.
We needed a 3-bedroom place to accommodate 3 friends wanting to hike/explore the area. This cabin was perfect for us. The location was right next to very nice hike (Nobel Canyon) and not far from others. The beds were comfy, the neighborhood very quiet, water was hot and pressure good. All the appliances worked fine. Kitchen was small but very workable. The house manual gave plenty of useful instructions. We used the space heaters in the morning, otherwise the temp was very pleasant. It was a wonderful stay.
We had such a great time here! The house was immaculate and the owners had thoughtfully provided oodles of conveniences… from toiletries to paper towels, firewood and starter!
The backyard is stunning - we felt as though we had the entire oak forest to ourselves! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
The cabin was cute and quaint. The view from the sunroom was wonderful. There isn't a way to hook up a Roku or game system (e.g., WII) to the TV's (no outlets) so leave those at home and enjoy the endless number of games at the cabin. We played some we've never played before. Great fun! There aren't other cabins really nearby so you may feel isolated if you are used to having neighbors.
Loved staying at this remote little piece of Heaven. Back porch is an amazingly easy way to take in all of God’s flying creatures, within the comfort and warmth of the cabin. Property management, was on call for any of my needs. Cabin was really cozy and rustic, but with so many cute and personal touches to it, I almost had myself convinced it was “ours” and we were out there for a long weekend, just as we would every week. Such a nice respite from the craziness of city life. Thank you for sharing it!

Charming & Peaceful - Great in every way!
Thank you for sharing your home with us. We loved everything about it from our beginning communication with you to the very last minute: We didn't want to leave. The place was very clean and neat as well as charming and rustic. We had all of the amenities of home - but in a very quiet "out of the way" location with the loudest noise being the rustling of the leaves in the breeze. We enjoyed the beautiful yard and nice deck to eat and sit outside while taking in the peace and tranquility of the mountains. Thank you for your warm welcome! Since we are lucky enough to live so close, we plan to return again soon for another weekend getaway.
I was anticipating this out-of-town trip for some time. It had been over 3 years (pre-COVID) since I was able to take a break from normal family life and enjoy nature without kids in tow 😊.
I was not disappointed in the least with my stay in The Cabin. It’s in a rustic setting which is what I was needing. The setting is very private. The wood burning stove is nostalgic and wonderful. The downstairs bed was very comfortable. The deck area was perfect for hanging out and listening to the bountiful sounds of nature. And there were many hiking trails close-by. I’d recommend the Kitchen Table trail (easy 4 mile out and back with a small waterfall at the turning point).
I anticipate requesting to stay again in the future—a great experience!
This log cabin was beautiful and I’d stay here again. It was so peaceful. I walked down the road and went for a short hike into the mountains and saw a lot of wild flowers. The upstairs bedroom on the right and the ground level bedroom need the ceiling fans repaired. There are no separate chains for the fans and it gets warm in there during the day. Either the door locks or the keys should be replaced, they’re a little difficult. Other than those two things, everything was perfect. Much thanks to Michele and Flip for sharing your cabin.

Exelent !!!!!!
Only three days are not enough to enjoy this gem and all its details
Since one enters the village, you start to enjoy your stay, thanks to the map drawn by the hosts we could reach more comfortably, as the road was better.
No matter if the road was irregular, we enjoy it, I drive my toyota corolla do not need a hummer
The cabin is completely enjoyable, it is full of details that we enjoyed the large and very comfortable living room, as well as the well equipped kitchen, the bedrooms were very cozy, and enough space for the whole family.
We were very happy to find several videos of Christian content very appropriate for the ocacion of Easter
Cristen and Michelle, take it very seriously to provide everything we need so that we are very happy.
The garden is so beautiful and all around to be taking pictures all day, there are many board games and also to play outside
We were enjoying the horses of the neighbors and taking photos
The baths full of things you might have forgotten like soap, shampoo, foam to shave, body cream, new toothbrush etc all in case something is forgotten.
There are many paths to walk and exercise, we walk around and the neighbors are very friendly, my 81 year old mother was very happy and my brothers and nephews delighted
Excellent customer service
Thank you Michelle and Cristen for responding quickly to our request for the cabin
I think we'll be asking again soon
God bless you

Perfect Pine Valley retreat house
Four days of very comfortable retreat for our group of six. Even though the weather outside was hot and mid nineties, the house is set among many trees which resulted in cool breezes and cool nights. The place was immaculate, tidy, decorated in a country rustic style. Kitchen convenient and modern appliances. It is located right next to the national forest on a back road so you do not get any through traffic. The house, year and interior is actually nicer than most of the photos.
The large back yard is beautifully landscaped and terraced, just like the photos. We were able to walk around and spend some time there at night viewing full moon. Large living room was able to be a host center for our evenings. Easy three minute drive back to town for Major's diner for great breakfasts in this iconic sixties diner. Convenience also of the town grocery market for supplies. Some of our friends also stayed at the Pine Valley Inn just down the road so this made it easy for us all to connect. We were at a weekend day long retreat in Campo, so the house was our lodging for the nights and we regret not being able to spend the full days there as well. Well suited for hideaway in rural mountain setting. Lots of mutual privacy with neighbors whose homes are hidden among the trees and more than a hundred feet away. And nothing but forest across the street. Michelle easy to contact and work with.
I use VRBO a lot over the years and it was really nice to spot this house in Pine Valley which normally does not have many listings. PS one of my favorite things at vacation places like this house was to find the fridge and cupboard does have teas, coffees, creamers, spices, butter, a few jams and things on hand .... this is so convenient when arriving at night and no stores available to pick up these little comfort items at the ready! VRBO homes are not hotel rentals, so things that make you feel at home are always welcome. Well done, Michelle.
