Modern comforts in a b & b

Posted 07-May-2016
Pros: modern plumbing and soft towels, the breakfast served were custom made to order.
Location: see above
After getting use to driving on "the wrong side of the road" , sitting on the "wrong side of the car" and shifting gears with my left hand, the last thing we needed was inadequate living accommodations. Arriving in Oxford we came upon the Parklands and booking here thru Expedia we were more that satisfied with the room and breakfast served. Located in a great area with the #2 bus passing by the front door we could access the sights in the central city. We found the Oxford Bridge Club down a few blocks and enjoyed meeting the locals. Here we learned about visiting Blenheim Palace and how to approach the English Heritage site from the side entrance. You get a most scenic vista from this approach and access to parking in one of the lots close by the ticket office and entrance. Others sights to see in surrounding area include the "Boat House" an easy 5 minute walk from the Parklands.

Location: OxFord

Excellent hotel close to Oxford centre

Posted 17-Apr-2016
Visiting for pleasure, and staying at Parklands was enough in itself. The stay was fault free, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate, and cleaned each day of our stay, and every time we returned after a day out there was a fresh set of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits etc... Really enjoyed the stay

Quiet and comfortable.

Posted 12-Mar-2016
Pros: Staff, decor, and breakfast.
Cons: Twin room on top floor not up to excellent standard elsewhere but still very comfortable.
Location: A bit of a walk or a bus to the town centre where Oxford has so much history and so much to see. Grab a guided walking tour!
A classic B&B in one of Oxford's classic homes. Staff were helpful and attentive and the English breakfast first class. Very well maintained and decorated property with a lovely walled garden at the rear. We spent the first 2 nights of our 3 night stay in a very comfortable king bed room on the first floor. Due to previous bookings we moved to a twin room on the top floor which was not so well appointed although still comfortable. Try for the king room! The only drawback for some might be the walk in to Oxford town centre, at one mile it is a bit of a hike although there are plenty of local buses at the door.

Beautiful, pristine almost perfect.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this b&b. It is decorated to a beautiful standard and everything is spotless clean. Staff are very helpful and efficient. Breakfast was a good standard. There is full English or a couple of other options as well as cereal and fruit juices. The room was very tastefully decorated and very clean. There were all amenities you could need, even an electric fan heater and bathrobe. The room had a couple of surprising design oversights that were a bit annoying- the main one being that the room was an open plan design with bathroom opening into the room. This was fine except the mirror above the sink was lit and there was apparently no way to switch off these lights. Only when I got into bed did I realise the lights were shining right into the bedroom. I had to cover the mirror with two towels and even then the light disrupted my sleep. The other oversight is that there is no mirror in the bedroom area at all and no plug in the bathroom area, meaning I had nowhere to do my hair in front of a mirror! Despite this I was very impressed with this hotel. Its location is great. 20 minute walk straight down Banbury Road into Oxford or you can jump on the bus which takes less than 5 minutes. They seem to be very regular and reliable, even late at night. I felt very safe at night in this area.

Parklands Hotel Oxford

Posted 06-Feb-2016
Charming, well run hotel with convenient access to the colleges and the city centre. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The double room was large enough to comfortably accommodate 2 adults. Breakfast is substantial in a very pleasant dining area. No lifts so climbing two flights of stairs can be a challenge, and storage space in the room is minimal.

Excellent B and B in a great location!

Posted 03-Feb-2016 on Hotels
We checked in at reception with a polite gentleman who offered to carry our bags up to our room. He showed us our room and asked whether we there was anything we need. Our room was cosy but had been decorated to a high standard and was comfortable to sleep in. The hotel is about 1 mile from the centre of Oxford with a bus service running outside the hotel. We used this regularly over the 2 days and got us into Oxford in 5 minutes for a small amount or it is around a 20 minute walk. Breakfast was high quality and was served by excellent staff in the dining room with a selection of buffet style and cooked breakfasts to choose from. In the evening reception is open until 10.30pm where you can purchase drinks if you require or ask for any items to make your stay better. This is a lovely B and B in a great location just on the edge of Oxford City Centre. Although it is along the main road the B and B is lovely and peaceful and allows you to have a relaxing break in a lovely city full of many different shops, bars and restaurants. We would definitely return if we go back to Oxford.

Prima Bed & breakfast

Posted 27-Dec-2015
Pros: Kleinschalig en persoonlijk
Cons: n.v.t.
Location: Zie boven.
