Classic hotel

Posted 27-Nov-2016
Great old hotel - feel and location reminds me of yesteryear. Lobby and location was nice. They only had a queen available, which was fine, but the room was just slightly bigger than the bed. TV on top of dresser and very basic/minimal furniture. Window didn't open and there was no door or access to the beach air. Wooden doors with NO sound proofing ability at all, not to mention a quarter inch crack in the door that almost felt like you could see through it. Besides the light coming through the door at night you could hear everything on the other side. With almost no rooms with direct access to the beach view it would have been great if there were a large community deck in the back. There is no place other than the beach itself to sit down in the evening or morning.

Nice hotel on the beach.

Posted 07-Nov-2016
Pros: Nice clean room for a very good price.
Location: Bonzer's shack and Kill Devil Hill's pizza is walking distance. Wright Brother's memorial is very close and hotel is on the beach.
Fun time but weather did not cooperate very well. Rained and windy

Great last minute spot!

Posted 31-Oct-2016
The hotel was great. I booked two rooms for my cousin's wedding last minute, and the price was very reasonable. The rooms themselves were not 100% clean, but I did not see anything worth complaining about. I believe most of it is due to old age. The building has been there for quite some time. The only thing that was annoying was the lack of elevator. I was traveling with a 5 month old and dragging his stuff up two sets of stairs in the cold wasn't ideal. Overall, I would love to go back--but ask for first floor! ;-)

Clean and renovated

Posted 22-Oct-2016
Location: Wright Brothers Memorial, 4 OBX lighthouses, scenic national park areas
We arrived the week after Hurricane Matthew. The front desk staff was very helpful. I called ahead to verify that they would be open and to upgrade our room. We had booked a queen and traded up to a king. While we were there, we extended our stay for one more night. All of these changes were handled with ease and in an extremely helpful manner. We stepped into a lovely room. The bed was plush and very comfortable, the bathroom was sparkling and the sitting area was so inviting. Our room opened onto the back parking area, just steps away from the ocean. It was really nice in the evenings to prop open the door and listen to the waves. The breakfast was wonderful! Hot cheese omelettes, coffee, tea, cereal, waffles..just delicious! They also offered snacks in the afternoons. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Clean rooms, great breakfast, efficient staff. Perfect! Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

Only problem is NO fresh air.

Posted 16-Oct-2016
Location: Nice waterfront location. short drive to a few restaurants.
This is a pretty neat place with nice public area, decent, prefab free breakfast and good coffee. Obviously and older building with handsome woodwork, but smallish, "cozy" rooms so plan to go to lobby or to handsome porch to stretch out. Weakness is that room windows do no open at all and there is absolutely no way to get fresh air into room. HVAC unit has no vent function and roars like a not-too-distant freight train. We just turned it off. I asked about the window business and was given a story about safety and liability and all hotels are sealed up these days. Only solution is a room with a balcony and sliding door. I didn't get a real answer to whether this is a North Carolina thing or industry wide, but I stopped down the street at the Comfort Inn and was told basically the same thing. But all their rooms have balconies. I wouldn't want to stay in a closed box more than one night, if I can avoid it.

Single nights lodging after hurricane Matthew

Posted 14-Oct-2016
Pros: Breakfast
Needed a place to stay before heading on down The coast, this hotel worked perfectly – courteous and friendly staff nice location and great hot breakfast. Rooms are not large and are not fancy but clean and perfectly suit the Outer Banks area.

What a great experience!!

Posted 10-Oct-2016
Pros: The beach.
Location: We vacationed after Labor Day and unlike a lot of destinations they did not roll up the carpet. Many restaurants to choose from and lots of shops.
This was our first trip to OBX and we will definitely be returning and staying at The Days Inn. I hesitated to book here because a lot of the reviewers said the rooms were small. They are small but not like some of the broom closets I've stayed in in NYC. The service was great. The rooms were clean. They had free breakfast and there was a laundry available. The access to the beach was awesome!!! Overall just a great place to stay.

It met our needs. Loved that it was on ocean. We walked on beach & drank wine on beach. Water rough due to remnants of Hurricane Julia, but we loved the water. Breakfast was great. Variety and pleasant surroundings.
