Started off okie, but ended very badly
We picked this hotel based on its location and reasonable price. For a 4 star hotel, I thought we made a good selection. We arrived early, so the room wasn't ready. They kept our luggage in storage while we explored the city. We returned later after lunch and checked in. The room was very small and dark. The hotel is painted black and so are the room doors and trimmings. For NYC, the size is probably the standard. However, I wouldn't have rated this hotel a 4 stars. It feels like a 2-3 star hotel.
We stayed for 4 nights. We thought the beds were comfy and the noise level wasn't too bad. However, the morning of the second of the last day, I woke up to find the grossing thing on the floor: a huge cockroach that was 2.5 inches long. It was walking all over my shoes and behind my luggage. My husband killed it while I freaked out. As he was making sure it was dead, he found ANOTHER one. He killed that one too. I tried to call the front desk, but the phone didn't work. We pressed every single button on that phone and nothing. I got dressed and went to see the manager. She apologized and offered to switch our room. However, since it was still early, the room wouldn't be ready until the afternoon. We had to pack all of our things and store them again. For the inconvenience, we got compted for part of our stay. The new room was a bit bigger on the same floor, but I couldn't feel comfortable. We were leaving the next morning, so we just dealt with one more night there.
