Understated Midtown Hotel Close to Everything

Posted 30-Jan-2017
Pros: Breakfast, location.
Cons: Elevator panels could use a light.
Location: Great Midtown location accessible to just about everything.
Selected hotel for walking distance to Madison Square Garden (in for BigTen Super Saturday), turns out it's close to just about anything you want to do on Manhattan. Walked to Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, easy train ride to financial district for 9/11 Memorial. Excellent true continental breakfast was a major bonus. Next time we go to NY I'll check proximity of focus of trip to this hotel, instead of the other way around.

Tremendous... But don't like the forced breakfast

Posted 17-Jan-2017
Forcing an additional $27.50 per day per room is just dishonest. Either have it as part of room cost or make it optional. One person staying in room and being charged $27.50/day is just not fair.... But great hotel, size and location

The staff was very helpful but they failed to give me an early wake-up call on my departure

Good location and staff, some minuses

Posted 13-Dec-2016
Liked the location and mostly helpful staff at this comfortable, very clean hotel. Appreciated an upgrade to a superior room, as the standard was quite small. Hotel bar great for relaxing in at end of the day -- spacious and quiet with good service and vouchers for free beer or wine. Overall, really liked the hotel, but was a bit disappointed with: no sign out front (walked right past it); doorman always missing (heavy doors, especially when maneuvering luggage); dark elevator with indecipherable buttons; no room service; no water heater for coffee or tea in room; no alcoholic beverages in minibar; unreliable wifi (was saved by having brought my own hotspot). Continental breakfast was good, nothing special. Bed, linens, toiletries, noise levels, room temperature controls were all great. Easy walking to midtown locations.

Great location and great service staff!

Posted 08-Dec-2016
Pros: I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and would highly recommend it. Great breakfast options and relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: To increase the light in the elevator it's hard to see the floor levels with the low light.
Location: Morgan's Hotel is located right next to the JP Morgan Library and just a few blocks down from the Grand Central Terminal.
It was our first time in New York City and this hotel is located right in the middle of NYC. I would recommend this place due the quietness of the neighborhood and the easy access to Grand Central. The staff was very helping and polite to begin with and had great recommendations.

Great little spot in a busy city!

Posted 23-Nov-2016
Pros: Very comfortable, friendly staff, great location
Cons: Minor.. Make numbers in elevator more legible!
Location: Near Grand Central, Lord and Taylor very closely. 15 min walk to Flatiron area, another 10'to the Village...
We found the place to be inviting, comfortable, . Staff were always there to make our stay more pleasant.mwe love the location because it's well situated for going up or downtown. We had a room facing the back which was super quiet. I would definitely stay there again !!

Hotel sold my room...

Posted 22-Nov-2016
I booked a 3 night stay last week on a trip to NYC. Despite the fact i had booked and paid for my room in full via Expedia, i was furious, after a 4 hour flight delay to arrive at the hotel at 11pm and discover that not only had Morgans sold my room, but that the hotel was sold out. I specifically picked to stay i Midtown as its close by my office and when the receptionist informed me that he was happy to tell me (?!) that they had booked another hotel for me which was downtown, i was not impressed. Obviously i had little choice other than to accept their offer and go to the other hotel - on the promise that id transfer my whole stay there - instead of relocating back to Morgans again for a 3 night stay. When i arrived at the Roxy downtown i was informed that it was sold out for the next nights and i had to return to Morgans the following day. The reception took my card to hold 'security' deposit on check in, assuring me that my room was covered by Morgans. On leaving the hotel i noticed a charge on my Amex - from the Roxy - who had clearly charged me full price for my room. After considerable hassle and complaining the charge was cancelled, but it really was just one thing after another. I think its terrible customer service for a hotel to re-sell your room when you have already paid in full.
