Hotel sold my room...
I booked a 3 night stay last week on a trip to NYC. Despite the fact i had booked and paid for my room in full via Expedia, i was furious, after a 4 hour flight delay to arrive at the hotel at 11pm and discover that not only had Morgans sold my room, but that the hotel was sold out. I specifically picked to stay i Midtown as its close by my office and when the receptionist informed me that he was happy to tell me (?!) that they had booked another hotel for me which was downtown, i was not impressed. Obviously i had little choice other than to accept their offer and go to the other hotel - on the promise that id transfer my whole stay there - instead of relocating back to Morgans again for a 3 night stay. When i arrived at the Roxy downtown i was informed that it was sold out for the next nights and i had to return to Morgans the following day. The reception took my card to hold 'security' deposit on check in, assuring me that my room was covered by Morgans.
On leaving the hotel i noticed a charge on my Amex - from the Roxy - who had clearly charged me full price for my room.
After considerable hassle and complaining the charge was cancelled, but it really was just one thing after another.
I think its terrible customer service for a hotel to re-sell your room when you have already paid in full.
