Beautiful and close to the action

Posted 24-Sep-2016
Pros: Room decor, cleanliness and location.
Location: Right on Bourbon Street so very convienent and I could walk almost everywhere.
Very clean and renovated rooms right on the main drag. I requested a room not facing Bourdon street to be on the safe side. So nice to be able to walk everywhere including down by the riverfront. I would stay here again.

Bucket List to stay on Bourbon Street

On my husband's bucket list to visit New Orleans. Balcony room on Bourbon Street. Only thing to improve on our stay would be to have stayed during Mardi Gras!

Excellent hotel

Posted 20-Sep-2016
Location: Located right on Bourbon street in the French Quarter.
We arrived at the hotel at 11am due to our flight getting in really early and they checked us right in. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We got a side street balcony and it was very noisy (we knew this before we booked the room) they provide ear plugs right in the room . After using the ear plugs we slept great! The balcony was wonderful and very spacious. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodated all our needs. I highly recommend this hotel !

Good To Go!

Posted 19-Sep-2016
I had 2 issues only at the hotel. The first one was taken care of quickly. I had requested 2 balcony rooms next to each other when I reserved the room. At check-in they said they didn't know anything about that. But it was resolved quickly and we got 2 balcony rooms next to each other. The other was I called and asked for towels on my last day. I waited 30-45 minutes and didn't receive them. I got them about 5 minutes later after my second call.

A getaway weekend to relax and enjoy New Orleans

Posted 18-Sep-2016
The Royal Sonesta is perfectly located in a he French Quarter, close to some of the best attractions and restaurants. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Very noisy though! Even though my room was 4 rooms away from the elevator, we could hear the chime every time it stopped on the floor. There was constant noise from people walking down the halls. Loud music played at the pool until at least 10 or 11 pm.

perfect french quarter location

Posted 14-Sep-2016
Pros: Great Location and very friendly staff, Mayfields Jazz Club is top notch!
Cons: enforce the no smoking signs, make the pool area and the entire hotel non smoking, upgrade the mushy beds.
Location: We enjoyed dinner at Arnauds anf GW Fins Restaturants right around the corner. The Antique shops and Art Galleries on Royal street were a treat
This was a three day stay for an anniversary. On the Saturday afternoon ( with a Saints/Raiders Game on Sunday) the hotel was a frat boy paradise with 30+ cigar smoking guys in the shallow end of the pool, so the pool was unusable on the weekend. We upgraded an extra 50/night to stay in a courtyard balcony room, but at 7am we awoke to smoke coming into the room from the 10+ people having a morning smoke on the 3rd and 4th floor balconies next to ours. ( the balcony doors do not seal shut, you can see day-light bewtten the door when the door is closed so smoke wafted right into the room) The front desk was very helpfull and changed our room ( to a non balcony room), but they still tried to charge us 50/night for the last two nights and even tried to bill us 750 for the room cost even though we had paid via expedia. Once I showed them my expedia reservation confirmation they reversed all room charges ( except for the one night we spent in the upgraded balcony room for an extra 50) The hotel during the week monday and tuesday was completely different with only 5-10 people by the pool and the few that were smoking were not a huge problem due to the constant breeze. In hindsight I wished I had known about the smoking being allowed on the property and pool area ( there are no smoking signs in the pool area, but the hotel also puts out ashtrays?! ) Bellhop and desk staff were execellent and the room was clean and fresh smelling as long as you kept the balcony door closed

Dear Dave, Once again, Happy Anniversary to you both and thank you for allowing us to play a small part in celebrating your anniversary. While we’re thrilled to read that so many of our Royal Sonesta colleagues made you feel so welcome, we regret to learn of your feedback regarding the outdoor smoking. With the pool area and courtyard being an open-air environment, we do allow guests to smoke here and we apologize for any confusion regarding our signage. With that in mind, guest feedback is critically important to us, and based on the comments you’ve highlighted we are currently reviewing our smoking policies to ensure other guests do not share your experience. We thank you again and appreciate you not letting this incident impact your overall visit. It was a pleasure to welcome you and we hope to do so again on your next visit to New Orleans. Warm Regards, Royal Sonesta New Orleans

Balcony on Bourbon St during Decadence Weekend.

Posted 12-Sep-2016
Pros: Really liked the location of this hotel.
Cons: $41 a night to park was ridiculous as well as $7 a bottle of water. Over $400 a night I would think they could give you a drink of water & parking.
Location: Lots to do on Bourbon St. Eat, shop, people watch....
My husband and I had a fun night on Bourbon St the night before leaving on a cruise. Decadence celebration was actually pretty fun. They really know how to party. Had a balcony room and therefore it was noisy all night. Yes, I mean all night. This did not bother us in the least as we stayed up most of the night drinking and people watching from the second floor. If noise bothers you, pick a room in the back of the hotel. I understand it is much quieter there. The room was fairly clean but not completely spotless. Very pricy as they charge you $41 per night to park and $7 for a bottle of water. Paid over $400 for one night, maybe they could throw that water in at no charge????

Greetings Cruiser, Southern Decadence is a fun time of year and we’re thrilled that you and your husband were able to join us before your cruise. Our Bourbon Street facing rooms provide a birds-eye view of all the activity and we’re delighted you so thoroughly enjoyed. We value your comments regarding parking, but as you’ll find this is typical of most hotels in the French Quarter. Once more, it was a treat to host you, we thank you for your review, and we hope your cruise was just as enjoyable as your time in Crescent City. Warm Regards, Royal Sonesta New Orleans
