This home is about 100ft. from a private beach and located in a quiet family neighborhood. The living room furniture and the beds were very comfortable. One bedroom has access to a small deck, which is a great spot for morning coffee or relaxing in the evenings.
The owner kept in contact and provided helpful information. The house was spotless and had plenty of towels. The kitchen is big and was fully stocked.
The Sandpiper Restaurant is two blocks away, and their food is delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
Great stay! Host even had coffee and tea available for us. Loved sitting on the balcony listening to the ocean with coffee to start the day and a glass of wine to end it! Steps to the beach access. The community activity outside was fabulous. Lots of walking, plenty of dog walkers, Sandpiper restaurant within two blocks, peaceful area and easy access to the crazy highway and downtown!
Try the Lobster Shack food! It’s DELICIOUS especially the Seafood Bisque. We would definitely stay here again.
Loved every minute!
My daughter was on her college spring break, so the wife an I decided to visit her, and we took three relaxing days ilout of our busy week in this well appointed beach cabin. It's a 100 year old cabin, that has been upgraded and updated but keeps a lot of the original cabin charm. Host has thoughtfully stocked just about all you will need. The single bathroom is upstairs, the floors creak a bit as an old house should, but the lighting, heat and plumbing is all modern and made us quite comfortable on the warm days as well as the cold ones. We hoped for a relaxing stay and found it here. We will very likely return next year.
We rented this property from Friday to Sunday for a fun getaway to visit our favorite New Haven pizza spots. The location is perfect - not too far from downtown but a nice, relaxing respite outside the city. The house was well stocked, very clean and cozy! Karen is an excellent hostess. We would love to visit again and recommend this rental to others!
This was our second stay with Karen. Outstanding hostess who is meticulous. So many good things to say. Private beach is across the street. Nobody but you. We actually prefer the public beach 200 yards down the road. Even though its a public beach, there's fewer than 100 people there. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and living space. Most likely will rebook again for next summer!
Thanks 😊
This was the cutest house to spend a weekend at. The kitchen had all the utensils and condiments we needed, and the living room was a really cozy place to hang out. The neighborhood was great to walk around and the beach was very close and accessible. Hoping to go back soon!
Great cozy, clean beach rental! Location was good. Plenty of things to do in area. Beach access was great and across the street. Would definitely recommend staying here!
This quaint little house was perfect for our brief stay in Connecticut . The house was clean and comfortable . Even having just one bathroom was not problematic . Returning to this house after along day was
Wonderful . It had all the necessary. Amenities . There was a little balcony off the master bedroom which was perfect for watching the sun rise on the water.
Great cozy cottage for a weekend getaway in East Haven! Plenty of space, quiet neighborhood, and close to the beach. Had a lovely stay with my friends!
Our family of five loved staying in this cute and cozy beach house! We wish we could have lived in it for longer – like maybe forever? It was clean and obviously well cared for. Definitely enhanced our vacation to have such a great place to call "home" for a week.
The cottage was perfectly set up for visitors with some basic supplies like coffee (new coffeemaker arrived while we were there) and a great location in a wonderful spot. It's right across the road from a private beach and a short walk to the main beach with great amenities for kids like our grandsons. Two good restaurants, one for seafood, other for lobster, at the beach and a great Colombian restaurant on the main street of East Haven. Highly recommend cozy cottage at Cosey Beach.
My husband, 3 year old, mother & I spent the wknd at this little home. Private beach was easy find but we liked the public beach better, less shells and easier to walk on than private. There is a splaspad accross the public beach adjacent to the Sandpiper restaurant where my family ate and had ice cream. The home itself was very comfortable for us. The bottom floor is bigger than it appears in the pictures. The bedrooms are perfect size. We knew the only bathroom was located upstairs so it wasnt that bad but the stairs were slippery with socks on. The kitchen had everything we needed as far as utensils and seasonings. We used the grill the first night for some burgers but then the 2nd night we wanted grilled corn but the propane was finished. We did not contact the owner or the person she left in charge. Karen left someone's name & # available for us to call if we needed anything. Wifi was easy to connect to. We have amazon & Netflix accounts so the TV was fine for us. I did see a few spiders, which I am terrified of, and some spider webs, but we got rid of them. Beds were ok, I slept with my mother in 1 room and husband and toddler in the master. We would come back. We loved the area and the people, not snoody or rude. We plan on returning next year. Stop & shop is 8 minutes away so is dollar store, Subway and a few other places.
Just finished a two week stay - our first in East Haven. It was marvelous on multiple levels. First off, Karen is a fantastic hostess. She was delightful to work with and extremely friendly and thorough. Check-in was simple. One feature is a keyless entry system - it's a combination lock. You don't have to worry about keys. Great idea that other places should consider. The house was very clean, with an open floor-plan. It was just the right size, too. It was well equipped with everything (we've stayed in places where they didn't even leave a pen and paper!). We didn't need anything.
East Haven is a very quiet, residential neighborhood. There are not alot of nearby activities (that was a plus for us). There is a Stop-and-Shop in town and a couple of strip malls, but both New Haven and Branford were within 10 minutes drive. Each had lots to do. We even took a day trip to Mystic, which was fun.
There are two beaches. The one across the street is private - literally. We were the only people on that beach. We actually preferred walking down to the public beach - about 200 yards down the road. "Public" is a misnomer. Other than the holiday weekend, there were less than 50 people there every day we visited. We've been elsewhere where there was a "private" beach that was way more crowded than their public beach. Being in the Sound, the water was extremely calm - great for young children, but not great if you like to boogie board. We preferred the calm waters.
We also enjoyed the nearby Sandpiper restaurant. Great food, great service and reasonable prices.
Thanks again for a great visit! We look forward to returning!

Great amenities. Period piece of seaside living with no frills. The setting is authentic & the beach cottage is quirky.

Interesting older house with a short walk to the beach
Nice enough house! Host checked in but never answered our messages we sent regarding arrival and departure. During the winter the heat constantly runs so the upstairs feels like 85 degrees (you’ll need windows open with fans blowing in even when it’s 25 degrees outside). House needs some TLC in some aspects. Overall it was just a quick getaway somewhere relatively close. During the summer I’m sure it’s a busy little area. Public beach down the road was empty and relatively clean. Good for finding seaglass.

A quaint little cottage.
We had a very nice stay. It was a pleasure to have things like condiments on hand for our use. I would have given it 5 stars, but there was no cable TV. We had to borrow our daughters " Fire Stick" to get any shows at all. In addition, I have some mobility issues and having just one bathroom upstairs was a nuisance for me. Overall the house was quite cozy and comfortable. Thanks Karen

Great little cottage by the beach!
We had a very nice stay. The house is partially renovated, partially old and classic. The water is more like a salt water lake than an ocean, as it is protected by Long Island. My kids loved swimming at the public beach, which is a short walk away and also includes a playground and a freshwater splash pad. A great summer stay!
